Hi,
I take a tumbling class once a week. I've had my standing back handspring for almost a year now and I can do it fine and everything, but sometimes it's like I twist to my left side instead of jumping straight back. Like at the beginning of my class, throwing it is no problem, I'll jump straight back and everything but once I do it repetitively, I'll think about going crooked and I end up jumping to my left. This used to only happen like once every now and then, but now it's happening every week. I have a round-off two back handspring and that is fine. It's just the standing back handspring that I'm having problems with. Does anyone have any tips to help me over come this? My teacher said I can't move on to tucks until my standing back handspring is mastered.

I would guess you're either looking over one shoulder or throwing one arm faster. You might be pushing a little harder off of 1 foot, but that's a little more unlikely I think. Focus on throwing both arms back fast at the same time. If you think about it, you should also be able to tell if you're looking over a shoulder. Honestly, your coach should be able to look at it and tell you what the problem is. I'd be worried about their ability if they can't tell you why it's going crooked after looking for that. Have you asked them??
