I get asked all the time if Cheer Athletics is the oldest program in the US. I know that we are not - we aren't even the oldest in our area. (All Star Gym Cougar Cheer & Dance, Cheer Station). I also believe Charlotte All Stars is older as well. I don't know any their founding dates, however. How about we rank the "oldest" gyms? For this list, it only counts if they have basically the same name and have been operating continuously. Maybe limit it to 15 years old+? If you know a gym's founding date, please list.

Oldest Gyms, in order
March/April 1994 - Cheer Athletics (Plano, TX)

known "old" gyms (15+ years), but don't know date
ASG Cougar Cheer (Carrollton, TX)
Charlotte AS (Charlotte, NC)
Cheer Station (Austin, TX)
GymTyme (Louisville, KY)
Memphis Elite (Memphis, TN)
Pro Spirit (McKinney, TX)
Spirit of Texas (Arlington, TX)
Top Gun (Miami, FL)
World Cup (Freehold, NJ)

ive heard greensboro all stars is one of the first, if not the first. i just went to their website and it says they were created in 1989. that's a long time!

ETA: I just realized that's the year i was born...me and gac are the same age :p

I found a few from Wikipedia, but I'm not sure how accurate they are;
CEA - 1993/94
Charlotte - 1990
World Cup - 1994

Memphis Elites website says they were established in the fall of 1992.

I think it's crazy that some of the gyms in America are older than I am.

I believe I remember reading somewhere that Cheers Inc. from Lexington KY (Dawn Walters) was the first allstar gym in 1989.

I didn't think CEA was opened until 1997-ish, around the same time Spirit of Texas & Pro Spirit. Could be wrong.

Refine: Start date: whenever the gyms' name started being used as an all star program. That same basic name should have been in continuous use until now.

When I was looking for info on Cheer Extreme, I saw that Wake Forest All Starts got their business license in June of 95. So they're almost 18

And Greensboro All Stars license is from August 1995, but they could have operated as something else since that's what their website implies

The Q49 Rockers from Richmond, Va were that first ever all-star founded in 1982. Although they are no longer around. I believed they merged and also the founder passed a few years back.

Memphis Elite did open its doors in 1992 - however, back then it wasn't operating under the name Memphis Elite. It was run by the same person though, Frankie Conklin.

Memphis Elite's first season was the 1995-1996 season. I was there. :)
