Exactly, now leaving Va at 5 is not bad but once you hit that Dc/MD line you hit that Dc/government traffic. Sucker ain't no joke. But Im really excited for twisters.
Exactly. I avoid the beltway at all costs at that time haha but it will be really good for some kids, especially ones that are already traveling from VA...it will be a slightly less terrible trip lol

Are they moving existing teams to the new location or creating brand new teams? Will there be enough new level 5 athletes for a y5, j5, sr5 and s5?

So basically MT are practicing in the shockwave facilities and taking all their level 5 athletes?
According to their website Shockwave currently has Tiny Level 1, Mini Level 1, Youth Level 1, Youth Level 2, Junior Level 1, Junior Level 2, Junior Level 3, Senior Level 2, Senior Level 4.2 and IOC6. So I don't think they are taking all their level 5 athletes? Seems like they are trying to attract Level 5 athletes who may be looking for a new cheer home.

this is not me trying to sound rude or obnoxious..i'm just really curious....what's in it for shockwave? awesome marketing, yes. maybe they're hoping it will attract all level athletes and therefore shockwave will gain kids too?

I would doubt they are looking to "move" teams, but I could see some kids with a long commute to Glen Burnie, choosing to give a Rockville team a try. I imagine they will figure out which teams they will have there at try-outs based on turnout. I would love to see another coed team in this location.

Maybe it will help them retain athletes that have progressed beyond what Shockwave currently offers. A lot of smaller gyms with only lower levels often complain about kids leaving to go to a level 4 or level 5 because there isn't a team available for them. It may even draw in new athletes that want to cheer and are setting level 5 as their eventual goal

If it works out like that, I think its an excellent idea.

I think they will be able to fill the new division they are looking into, because there are a lot of lvl 5 VA kids that are just settling for the next best thing, since twisters maybe to far for them.

I go to school in super north NOVA, and Shockwave and the Waldorf location take practically the same time to reach, according to Google Maps. But traffic to Waldorf and traffic through Rockville is completely different.

They have lots of options:

1) All Star Legacy (moved into the Vipers Manassas space) in Dulles or Manassas
2) Phase Cheer and Dance in Chantilly
3) Infinity Cheerleading in Fairfax
4) Capital Gymnastics (They have a cheer team)
5) Cheer Tyme in Chantilly (Which is aa expansion for Cheer Tyme and an extention of CYA competative rec program Cheer Select)

I am sure I am missing some but those are the major players in the immediate area.

Fame has a Northern Va location too :)
