There is no way that is accurate, I'm pretty sure more than 5 teams have turned down at large's. I know of three just from the NW area that did and those did not get passed down to someone else as far as I know... Spirit might have hung on to them to hand out at different comp's but they weren't given to other teams from the Best of the NW comp.

I think our gym alone has turned down 4, so yeah....lol

If you are looking at The Summit list it's not accurate.
Yeah, I'd be curious to find out how many turn down bids. I suspect it might be higher than they original anticipated.
Our gym had a team earn an at-large bid but I haven't heard a thing on if they are going or not.

By my count, 83 paid bids and 293 at large bids should have been awarded by now. It looks like the Summit web site has 60 paid bids and 122 at large listed. Teams that were awarded a bid through Feb should have had to either accept the paid bid, put down a $1000 deposit on the at large bid, or turned down the bid by now. Based on this, it looks like all the paid bids are accounted for through the end of Feb, but only 50% of the at large bids have been ultimately accepted (including those who were originally awarded the bid and those offered a passed down bid).

Does anyone know how the passed down bids work? If a team passes on a paid bid, does it get passed down to the highest ranking at large bid recipient, or the only the highest ranking at large recipient that had put down a deposit? Are the bids from the Nov, Dec, and Jan competitions “dead” if they have not yet been accepted by someone, or can those competition companies still be going down a list of teams and offing a bid?

We have a lot of At-Large bids to pass out to NCA teams. We gave out more bids than any other Varsity brand. We guaranteed the National Champions one on-site, but there are still more. Gyms I've reached out to are typically taking 2 days to confirm their bid status. Those 2 days are valuable and it's getting down to crunch time, so my hope is to find out who in the top 3 really want one and build a list from that.

Is this true for other EP's that are handing out bids? If the at-large is turned down they are able to pass it down to a 2nd or 3rd place (or however far down) team?

I'm hearing talk about people disagreeing with NCA's process to getting out the bids and that its somehow a reflection on the Summit or a problem with our sport. Let alone the fact that almost EVERY SINGLE great team competes at NCA Nationals, Winning Top 3 in Dallas is a big deal--especially with the avg division size of 9.2 teams. I don't have enough hrs in the day to reach out to every eligible team, so I sent an email... and a decision I lived to regret, I tweeted it as well.

Anyone that doesn't think winning Top 3 at NCA is prestigious enough to go to the Summit should ask the 700 teams that left Dallas NOT in the Top 3. I'd put our NCA top 3 up against any team in the Nation (as most of the 2nd and 3rd place teams were hundredths of points away from winning their division).... and plan on it at The Summit.

Don't make ASCheerMan angry! You wouldn't like him when he's angry!;)
LOL, growing up my twin bro and I loved The Hulk and Spider-Man. He was the Hulk (rough, tough, strong) and I was Spider-Man (graceful and strategic). It's amazing how much we've generally retained those qualities as adults. I'm much more Parker than I am Bruce.

I was hoping you would get that analogy.

Thank for your help

Many of the teams who are attending are not yet listed on the bid winner list. We accepted our bid about a month ago and have not yet been added.
