I'll step on my soapbox for a minute:

If your gym doesn't require concussion baseline testing I would highly suggest doing it on your own. There are many companies but I have used Axon Sports Baseline Test for Concussions | Axon Sports. Baseline testing is recommended by both the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Stepping down now.

Stepping up...and educate your gym on this. They should have this type of protocol!...stepping down

I got my concussion right at the end of the fall football season for highschool. I still suffer from post-concussion symptoms, I get a headache almost every day now because I didn't sit out as long as I needed. You should definitely stay off electronics, and stuff and just rest. I put ice packs on my head and switched with heating pads but I don't know how well that works. I was just very desperate bc I was in a lot of pain. I had a very upset stomach and I threw up almost everything I ate for three days. My recommendation is just listen to what your doctor says and rest as much as they say because I'd rather be sitting out for a little while than suffer even longer. If you don't get the recommended treatment from your doctor your symptoms either get worse or just never go away. Oh and another thing I did that seemed help was I took cold showers and took excederin. If your neck hurts I would put an ice pack on it. (I had neck pains but everyone's different.)

Hope you feel better!

This! This! This! Your DR should have noted that you need complete physical rest as well as cognitive rest. This means no looking at glowing screens at all. So no TV, computer or cell phone. We know it's difficult in today's world, but all that activity is keeping your brain alert, which is the exact opposite of what you're trying to do.

people keep saying this... but when i asked my dr if i needed to not be on the computer or anything he said it would be fine....?

Our sports med dr at CHOP told my daughter only 1hr tv/comp/phone at a time and sunglasses help with the screen glare that worsens the headache . She had 2.5 months of PT which included stretching and eye exercises and tests, which can be downloaded for "homework" online. Muscles have alot to do with the tension and healing process.

i think you just shouldn't be on it excessive amounts. It has to do with the light, sound, and just hurting your brain (if that makes sense) your brain needs to rest so if youre missing work or school, electronics should be too. I'm going to be honest, when i had my concussion i was soooo bored. I missed a few days of school and i felt like there was nothing to do! But if you take it easy with the electronics and rest rest rest then you'll heal faster, i promise
