Anyone know anything about this "Champions Cup" thing happening in July in New Orleans? Our gym became a host gym today (for try outs) and sent out info about it.

I tried to do a search on here and it wouldn't let me search the word cup because its too short.. And champion didnt do me much good, so if there's been a thread about it already, please let me know.

My CP is chomping at the bit to tryout and I'm interested to hear what people know.

If I can swing the cost, I would love for my daughter to participate. Our gym is one of the host gyms. I think it looks like an amazing opportunity to meet cheerleaders from across the country.

GreatWhite92 yes the latter is my biggest question as well. It looks like they've tried to get tryouts off the ground once before. From their Facebook page.

We are very interested but I am afraid to invest the money and it not turn out like expected. :(

I'm intrigued but the lack of information makes me wonder just how many teams will be fielded. Outside of host gyms I'm not sure anyone has really gotten clear information. We're on a cruise ending the beginning of July do I don't even think we'd be in town but the competition dates are so expansive I don't know when in that window they'd compete.

I'm feeling like its better to watch and see what happens this year before committing so they can work the links out. Just seems like there are going to be a lot of them and the last thing I want is to pay for it and travel to have no one in our division.

I would like to know: 1) how often will they practice? 2) how flexible will they be on attendance seeing as how it is summer vacation? 3) how will they work around athletes normal all star gym practice times/camp times/choreography dates/school cheer? It will be hard to coordinate a time when everyone can be there and NOT conflict with your normal team. So if you make it and practice ends up being on a night you can't attend, does that mean you are out of luck?

My question is how does this work if your not a member if the "host" gym. Cp wanted to tryout for the Texas level 2 team but I don't know how that would work since the host gym is not CA...

Honestly I love the concept of this, but there are way too many unanswered questions with only 8 days left to try-out. Who will coach each teams? These are things I would need to know in advance before I would send in a $287 deposit. I'm afraid the lack of info is going to prevent most from trying out. Champions Cup keep working on this!! Great concept but parents need more facts first!!

I remember discussing this last year (or two years ago idk). I don't know of any coaches pushing this, besides the coaches of these teams perhaps. I haven't done enough research on it to pass judgement about it. Off the bat I'm not real comfortable sending any of my athletes to another gym to be on a different team.
