All-Star The Summit-bids

Apparently the was a debacle with scoring and such, and my gym's Large senior coed 4 ended up with an at large bid, so they're going.
And man, soooo many rays teams got paid! More paid bids in one gym than we saw competitions give out all season!

This has been bothering me for awhile...why is "The Summit" all of a sudden a big deal? Isn't it just All-Levels but renamed and at Disney World?
Everyone hated All Levels so why are we all of sudden excited by this?

The wonders of marketing and the lure of Mickey!

Because Intl All Levels you didn't have to have a Bid to get to. So this has made it more competitive. I wish they would get the list current. I think their were a lot of AL bids declined which makes me wonder why they didnt start giving more out at competitions. They are trying to mirror Worlds for other levels. Also Intl All Lvl went to the whole virtual voting thing the last few years which was just a popularity contest- it didn't measure truly the best team in my opinion.

Because you can get paid bids! Who's gonna turn down a full paid bid that's equivalent to a full paid bid to Worlds?

I know a team from the NW that did. A full paid for us is really only half the cost with airfare being so expensive. And they already went to UCA Nationals so it'd be another Florida trip within two months and more missed school. I am sure they are one of only a few though.

OA had 2 at large summit bids this past weekend - small jr 3 (red sox) and small sr 3 (yankees) and a paid bid to our large jr 3 -( white sox ) at the American Open. Top Dog Jr Coed 3 also received a paid bid. Those are the only bids I know of from this comp.

I think people started to get excited about the Summit when it actually became an honor to be chosen to go. I know from the competitions we were at they were selective in choosing the bids for this and it was very difficult to get a paid bid you pretty much had to get grand champ of your particular level to be chosen. I guarantee it was harder to get a paid bid to the summit then to Worlds.

I truly only trust and expect quality events that are out of the norm from Dennis Worley of All Star Challenge and Justin Carrier of NCA...knowing both of them are attached to The Summit gives me hope.

a team from my gym (ECE J5) declined their full paid bid...so its possible! i just hope that my team doesnt decline ours, we got paid but now since J5 declined theirs i dont know if we are also going too. but i totally understand what you mean!!

I think one of the SOT teams got a paid bid and turned it down as well...
But I didn't know ASCheerMan was involved...gives me hope!

Wow all level 3! Our Youth 3 received a bid (at large) at the American Open yesterday and was the "money winner" at this comp...our percentage score was over 95% so I wonder how far off we were from being paid We are having a team meeting to discuss going...
