It's a step. It recognizes that quality and consistency in judging is something that is necessary for all-star cheer to evolve. My hope is that the training is much like the training higher-level soccer referees get in that it's intensive, detailed and involves continuing education and communication. And that with this training comes a process of evaluating judging performance - i.e., it's more than just taking the class, it's being to apply the lessons of the class in real-time in high-pressure situations. (and get it right far more often than not)

Shimmy X 1,000! :)

That's my one and only request. I don't think it's too much to ask! Get your mother nature under control down there. You have exactly 30 days to accomplish this. I think I've given you enough time ;)
I think we have a total of 10 days all year under 50. How people live in weather like that or worse for a long period of time is beyond me :)

I hate it. I want to live in South Padre Island, TX after my kids grow up! lol

I agree!! I really hope this is the intent of this association because anything less is just mocking the concept.

Call me crazy...but I hate the Varsity score sheet (ducks for cover). Maybe it's because I coach level 6 and thing that it's insane what needs to be done to get into the high range (single base double ups? sure my all girls can do that?). Maybe its because as a judge I can't fathom having to judge all elements of a routine at one time. Which brings it back to the arguments of video replay, submitting routines in advance etc.

I love the step in the positive direction though! It's an absolute improvement towards consistency

Ok I can understand Lvl 6 frustrations but for lvl1-5 it's not bad. My issue with any and all scoring is that difficulty should not change performance to performance (same elements) technique, yes. Once you are in a range and achieving a score I believe there should be an expectation of consistency when difficulty is at play. How can a coach coach when it's a coif lip week to week? Ranges are set so getting in a range is no longer difficult yet scoring consistent is still a major issue.

This is why I'm in love with the Cheer Canada system. It has its flaws (limits creativity when you're trying to max out especially!), but it's very clear what falls where for difficulty.

Oh hush, all of you, I'm in the Northeast and it was bare max 30s last week, and now this it's balmy 50s. :p

In a weird way, I'm happy but I'm sad? I feel like this is something the USASF should be doing, but seeing as they can't or won't or whatever, Varsity is instead?

All-girl 6 teams can't get into the upper range at all. It's not possible and Justin admitted as much to me this summer (or fall) when the scoresheet was first released.

The USASF isn't really in a position to do this without a common rubric to work from.
