anyways.....back to Smoed, can anyone confirm from cali allstars, etc. that they are taking this filming all the way to worlds, and if so do they plan on skipping ahead of showing every competition in order to get to that point a little quicker???
I'm not from Cali (far from it) but I'm assuming they would skip competitions if they went all the way to Worlds. They did skip the Majors, after all, so I'm sure they'll skip some other, smaller scale competitions that are less important. They just showed the 1st comp and then the bid comp, I'm assuming if it was just a typical comp (no new team member, bid at stake, etc) they could skip over it

Already did, and I am not bashing anyone. I asked a question and she did a great job of answering in a mature, rational manner. I wanted to know WHO was passing off untruths and she gave me some insight. I am impressed with her for being upfront and answering. Others on this forum have taken less mature tactics.

Can't you just think about your opinions instead of sharing them with the world
Because expressing an opinion gets people thinking. Maybe the next kid won't believe that lying is " the way things work" as some here seem to believe. Maybe someone will think twice before believing that quitting midseason and bailing on your team is ok because you can just come back later. If we dont discuss things, then nothing changes. The point i am trying to make here is that we shouldn't just accept that lying and manipulating events is "the way things work" and move on. We should be looking for a higher standard. Particularly from programs like Cali who are actively setting the standard in the industry. Allowing this to go on in their gym is, IMO, wrong and detrimental to the sport. It would be remiss NOT to say something. I would really hate to see what could be something good for the sport sink to the level of cheer perfection.

I agree with this. I feel like some of us (myself included) owe Smoed - especially Kassidy and Eddie - an apology. It's obvious now that AwesomenessTV took something out of context, causing us to be overly critical of something we really knew nothing about. I for one naively believed things were in reality as dramatic as they were on the show - and that's the irony of 'reality' TV. I feel bad for being so judgmental online before finding out the truth. Smoed are such a talented group of kids and don't deserve this misdirected criticism, especially in the YouTube comments. I admire them and Eddie so much and I only hope that the show's portrayal of things doesn't cause this again in the future.

Thank you for the apology :)

NO 1 IZ LYING HOLY MOLY WHAT R U DOING WITH UR LYFE.

Not crazy really, I have seen crazy mom and that is nowhere close!

I wasn't saying you were crazy...touch defensive? I was trying to draw attention off of you so the people on this board didn't eat you alive, which is where this is headed. Honestly this is NOTHING compared to those of us that are waiting for tryouts with kids with blocks, or coming back from an injury/time off, ect. Even I...one of the more "non crazy" moms has started losing it. We have multiple threads that all read like support groups as one of us loses our mind after another.
There is no such thing as "reality" tv..there hasn't been since the 1st Real World back in 1994. The 1st cast was sent a letter with a key, they had no idea where they were going or who they would live with. Most of the camera footage was done with Big Brother type cameras and piped into a sealed room in the house where the crew watched and edited.
Now Storage Wars plants items, Dance Moms feeds lines, and Cheer Perfection dramas it up for the cameras. Cali, Eddie, and Kassidy are not in the wrong, if you want to direct your anger somewhere more purposeful contact AwesomenessTV, they are the ones that did the final edit.

The point is: even if everyone on the fierceboard discussed this and came to the conclusion that it is not appropriate, there is exactly nothing that would change. Things would only change if parents would stop letting their kids cheer at Cali because they don't like the way Cali runs their gym. That's the way businesses work.

If you are looking for a higher standard: find yourself a gym that has them. But from personal experience I can tell you that it is a lot more important how you raise your kid. I doesn't matter what a coach or a teacher tells them. It matters what you tell them and what you exemplify to your kids through your life.

And if you don't like the way the producers edited the whole thing there is an easy thing to do: don't watch the show. It's the same thing as with the Cali-parents: if you don't like something don't give them money (and yes, everyone who watches the show gives them money because that's just the way youtube works).
There are tons of TV-shows I don't like because of the way people are shown there - the easy solution: I don't watch them!

THROWBACK!!!! I loved that first year.

Even without feeding lines, or planting items.. people will behave differently if they know someone's filming.
That's why I like "What Would You Do?". I think psych is interesting in the first place, but seeing how people react honestly when people need help and they have no idea someone's watching.
