All-Star Feedback On Video At Competions

Reading this thread, I am SO not your target market. I've bought one DVD over the years, and to be honest, I've never watched it. It was one of those 4-6 weeks later deals, and by the time the DVD arrived, the season was long over and I'd lost interest.

As far as the photography, I'm not a good mark either. This is CPs 5th year of comp cheer, and I see maybe 1 photo per year where I can see her face--and thats not to say that the photo is any good. She isn't a flyer, she isn't a point person, so she just naturally doesn't show up in the photos. That's actually the reason I bought a telephoto lens. I know where my kid is, and I can be ready to take a shot.

If an EP were to tell me I couldn't bring in my camera, I could live with that. As others have said, you miss the routine when you're behind the lens. It would not mean that I would be buying from the vendors at the event, since my kid is all but invisible.

What about this... the ability to watch unlimited routines online in HD (phone, laptop, tablet, smart TV) but not to download. For a monthly subscription, (maybe $15/month?) all routines from a competition would available a week or so after the event..... would there still be a desire for USB or DVD?

Personally, I'd still like the DVD option. We buy/download them for the memories. CP just watched her mini 1 DVD from years ago and loved it. What you proposed is probably a good option for those who want to watch full division performances, though.

I like CheerPower

We get a free DVD of our team every performance. (3 of our 10 comps are CheerPower)
Plus whoever does CheerPower zooms in and you can see it with great quality. Plus we had the DVD before we left the comp for every member on the team:)

I paid $50 afterwards for the video of ACA for the youth 2 division and it was a decent video but nothing out of this world.

I paid 30$ for a video that included teams that went before and after my kids team but it wasn't the whole division .. It was a few youth 2s and junior 1s mixed together.

This was from 8 count video and they barely zoomed in and the kids looked like far away ants and wasn't the best quality! I did get it right away however .. But nothing compares to a CheerPower video

They were the best quality out of all and the were free!!!!!:)

I like and will pay for a video of just my kids team for 25$ that is perfectly fine with me but anything more is crazy.

At WSA they wanted I believe $100 for just 1 day of my kids performance or $150 for both days..this was innovative images llc??

Ugh no thanks!!!!

I think (and if someone knows the for sure please post...) Cheer Power uses their own video crew, not a vendor, so the cost is rolled into the registration fee. I think (again think, key word here) they were the first ones to do that. It is a great idea.... well all except not using a video vendor. ;)

Well that's awesome because they have the equipment to do it right. The best videos I own are all from them.

I have not seen your company's videos so I'm not comparing it to that but the quality of videos coming out of cheer power is awesome! Definitely better then the other vendors I have purchased from.

As far as them being online and non downloadable I do not care for that option because I buy the video for a memory and I want to share it with friends and family. I don't want to always have to pay for a subscription monthly to be able to go back and watch one video because that will cost me way more in the long run. Just trust that if you do videos for the events we go to and my kids team hits clean I will purchase the video ... Long as it doesn't exceed 30$! If its more then 30$ I would have to really really want that video. I would also like if you give us an option to purchase other teams from our gym as a discount like $15 or something of that nature. I'd pay for it!:)

Thanks..., I appreciate the feedback. Here's a sample of our "stuff" (which you can also watch in 3D if you have a pair of those 3D movie glasses... click play, the "gear" icon on the lower right, chose HD, and then the 3D icon to the left of the gear)

(please let me know how it looks in 3D... I can't find any of my daughters 3D glasses anywhere!)

Here are some of the reasons I would buy a DVD over using my cell phone video (besides the obvious quality issue.)

1. To see other teams in CPs division (actually for CP to see the other teams in her division.)

2. See other team from our gym we weren't able to see

3. Occasionally watch a worlds division or two purely as a fan.

4. To rewatch CPs performance.

As a consumer, I would like

1 - 3 - Probably want to watch just a few times. Don't really care about preserving, just watching - online viewing would probably be sufficient. However, I don't think I would pay $15/month (or if I did I would pay the $15, watch for the month then cancel.). Sustaining a monthly subscription only makes sense if the same company is at more than one event. I wouldn't mind even paying for for a one month, one event access.

4. I usually would want a copy of CPs routine to preserve. (Could be digital.). This could be priced a bit higher, but say for a 2 day, 2 teams per day typical weekend for us, if I pay for the month viewing, I don't want to pay more than $15-20 additional to keep the routine videos of CP. (Could even have a quantity based pricing, first video download is $10, each additional is $2.50 for example.)

Now if the online thing could be available shortly after the event begins (like the worlds on demand) I would definitely pay for the 30-day access (or monthly subscription.). THIS is a service not really offered (except some of the really big events), and don't know how feasible it would be (doesn't need to be high def at this point.). It would be great especially at a two day competition to be able to watch videos the night of day 1 before day 2. (I'm sure EPs and judges would love this, LOL!!). But there are definitely times I would even buy access to watch competitions where my CP is not competing.

My biggest complaint would be the NO VIDEO rule! Even at NCA they will allow team photographers but only for pictures! its total bs. whats the difference? I know you pointed out the creep instance but couldnt have that been the same with a still camera? These events are a big deal in our lives and to be told nope you cant record it is in my opinion wrong!

What if you did like routines from competition available free for a week, and then if you want to keep it (after the week) you can pay $9.99 or whatever to download an individual team? No DVD prices so that would make it cheaper, but people can still have it forever without having to pay $15 every month just for one routine

Well..., remember that cheer competitions are private events... even though there are hundreds of people in an arena - they are private events run by a business that can make rules that they see fit to protect their product (the a Cheer competition) Most arena events have a no camera rule, as well as the arena itself. It's not the same as using your camera out in a pubic location.

One of the reasons to limit photography at an event like NCA is most people do not turn the flash off.

SEVideo As a coach I personally love dartfish & the Cheersport set up. I will gladly pay a small fee to have a video online that I can access anytime I please, as well as the entire division. I also loved getting handed a flash drive of our performance each day with our score sheets. (not sure if Cheersport still does this)

I also prefer live, lower quality videos over high quality videos that are shown a week later. It's an instant gratification world and in a week I've already moved onto the next competition or something else.

And on a completely side note, I don't love the company since SE Video claimed my youtube videos and had my account removed. They were my own personal videos of my team that I filmed myself, yet SE claimed them as their own. Thats for another thread though...

Personally I think $15 a month is a little high. $15 would be fine if I could download videos, or if I got the service for longer than a month. I think a drawback is that a week or so later, a lot of people no longer care. With competition season having events every weekend, you're often focused on the next one and not concerned with the video subscription from weeks before.

I also had my picture and video claimed by SE as their own. I had permission and secured a media pass at cheersport. I filmed and took every picture yet they say they had the rights. None of my stuff was or is for sale yet they blocked my account.

SE Video have you thought about imbedding your footage with a watermark like the still photo world has done? You would than be able to sell your video with the video rights so it could be used by the end user as they see fit. All the while you would get credit for the image.

I would buy and download such a video. If I could edit and overlay my still photographs in with the video
