Its not common for gyms on the west coast to pay their gyms for airfare, everyone books their own, Ive never heard of a gym that arranges flights. Plus you have to consider that many stay off site.

There was a gym who charged 150.00 extra for every travel comp and their coaches stayed in the best suites the hotel had, so crazy things do and will always happen out here.

Also know that gyms have to register giant blocks to ensure they get the best rate they can for everyone as well as guarantee a room for their entire program. This is a necessity but the hotel does make a lot of money from it. Sometimes they'll give then coaches the nicest rooms for a reduced rate in exchange.

Not in this case, it was just booking the penthouse or whatever the best rooms were and basically using it as a party room.

Both of my girls are going to worlds. One of them on a full paid bid, the other on an at-large. My CP going on a full paid bid still has to pay $400 towards her trip. My CP going on an at-large has to pay $1,100 and that includes airfare. I, too, decided to try and figure out where this $1,100 was going and this is what I came up with...

Hotel $100 a night divided by 4 kids in the room times 5 nights = $125
Airfare averages about $350 = $350
3 day park hopper pass = $210
Several sets of practice clothes = $100
Bus transportation for 5 days (not sure but I will guess it's quite expensive) = $100
All of that totals around $885. So there's a little over $200 left over PER ATHLETE going towards coaches fees, etc. which totals around $4,000.

You gotta remember that gyms are FOR PROFIT businesses. I'm sure there are upcharges to some degree. But I don't think that number is excessive.

Do u get an itemized statement from ur gym showing exactly what u are paying for? Mstealtoyou so graciously calculated how much Charlotte AllStars is paying to take their 2 teams to Worlds and it comes to $594 per kid. Includes airfare, hotel and hopper pass. I know there are variables, but if ur large team got a $25000 full paid bid, that's $694 per kid. How much extra are u paying the gym? Do u have to pay for coaches rooms, their food, their hotel and airfare? Their kids, the grandparents, clothes, the coaches bar bill? I would hope u would ask. So blessed that Charlotte AllStars is paying for us to go. One less stress in our lives.

No, I don't get an itemized statement but through research (price of quad rooms at allstar can be found online and has been posted here) experience (having sent my oldest CP to Worlds for years) and information from the gym I have a pretty good idea of what my cost's are going to be from season to season to compete in Orlando. I had a minute to do a guestimate (sp) and was curious so I did the numbers. LOL I agree that was generous of them. The $25,000 bid money is for 36 kids and 2 COACHES. Price per person is $650 not $694 as you keep saying. As far as how much extra are you paying the gym if programs are taking more than 2 coaches a team then coaches fee's would also need to be figured in. Our's were $61. Travel fee's for staff should never have to come out of the gym budget. Usually they are lumped into your competition fee payment schedule. Is there anybody out there that wouldn't expect to pay for those things?

This describes my gym perfectly. I guess it can be done differently elsewhere. Idk why it would be though.

The commuter package 3 day ticket was $285 for athletes so that's even closer to your $1100 budget.

The costs for my CP is at $735 so far. $345 for 5 day commuter ticket, $130 for 4 nights in a quad at pop century and $260 airfare. We are staying 2 extra nights but she will move over to my room for that. The gym covers the coaches expenses.

I know of a gym competing on an at-large that is asking their athletes to pay around $1,100 including alternates who have a 95% chance of touching the blue mat!! I'm sorry but I don't think it's worth nearly going into debt over, I mean its the end of the dang season!!

Our alternates have to pay the same amount as the kids that take the mat do. Even though they are not competing, they are still receiving the same things (airefare, hotel, clothes, transportation, etc.). I don't see a problem with that if the parents are able and willing to pay it...

How many coaches are going? Are you staying on Property or at a non disney location?

I think it's interesting to see the different ways gyms put together the costs. I don't know of any gyms that arrange airfare, and Except for Worlds, we don't even do blocks of rooms for travel comps anymore.

Worlds costs are
*registration (either commuter or travel pkg)
*practice clothes
*coaches fees

@momjeans.....Charlotte Allstars makes all travel arrangements (airfare, hotel, food plans, etc) for our level 5 teams (maybe others) when we go out of town to comps. The kids travel together and stay together the entire time. The kids love it. And the parents don't have to worry about anything.

The whole program or certain ages? Mine are (basically) 13 and 15 now but I wouldn't have been excited about that when she was a mini.
