I love the idea of the Summit. I wish no teams declined the bids and in the future hopefully they will not .I do understand teams that declined for finacial reasons but would these same teams decline if it was a worlds bid. I think the Summit will grow and grow. All teams should start to include a spot for the Summit on their competition schedule before your the one team left out. For the teams that are competing at the Summit this year if you win your division be proud regardless if xyz allstars were not at the Summit. It doesn't matter because you were there, you won and you are The Best of The Best...

I know percLMFAOntage of perfection is how bids were handed out at one competition we attended. Not sure if that was across the board for all Summit comps or just how this one EP did it.

Glad you said that. I was wondering where I got that from...I started to think I dreamt it up . LMAO. .

I can't decide if I like the Summit or not. On one hand like what they're trying to do as far as give the non-world's teams a chance to have a world's experience, but on the other I feel like it might almost be taking away the drive for kids to go to world's. Before (imo) it was kind of a "push and get better so I can one day compete at world's on a level 5 team" mentality. Now I feel like it might change to a "well I've already competed and won the Summit and that's basically the same thing, the only difference is the name". I just feel like, especially when the Summit becomes more popular, the only difference is that those that were restricted 5 can now do doubles. I think my main point is that with all these competitions trying to be "prestigious" they are actually making others less special. I don't know if any of that makes sense to anyone else.

f5forever I can see where you are coming from, but keep in mind there are some gyms that will never be able to have a World's team. There are not enough athletes in the entire corner of our state to have a World's level team. Our gym is in a rural area, we are elated that we have the opportunity to compete at the Summit. It will be the most "prestigious" competition our girls will ever have a chance to go to.

I completely agree with you. Even if you live in a large metroplex area but you are a small gym, it's very difficult to field a world's caliber team. Not to mention, there are some athletes that no matter how much effort they put in, the will never have the skills to be on a world's team.

I disagree with this. The Summit should be "the best of the best". If the distribution curve of "the best of the best" skews towards higher level teams, then so be it.

At the competition we went to, the bids were handed out by percentage of perfection. (I.e., how close you came to maxing out the score for your level). A level 2 team ended up with a paid bid.

Same with the one we attended. We won the American Open Championship in Orlando & were the "money" winners as well with a percentage of perfection score of 96 something I believe. Our owner was told to keep my cp's team there and in uniform until the following award ceremony because it looked like we would receive a bid, so we had to wait a few more hours to find out about the bid then when we received the bid on stage and then we were told we would not know if it was paid or at large until a few hours later after the last team competed. We ended up getting an at large because it was the percentage of perfection that separated that as well :) It was exciting though, even with the waiting...I think Brandon Allstars received the paid, one of the paid, and they were fabulous, all their teams :)

I hope the Summit performance order is released soon!! Need to know how much time we will have to enjoy the Disney parks.

I think my main point was why not just call it "worlds" and have everyone compete one day, one time. Have levels 1-3 go day one and 4-6 go day two? Cheersport gets it done (double that actually). As I said, I really WANT to like it, there's just something about it that I don't like....don't know exactly what it is. Maybe after it's first year I will like the Summit more. Maybe I'm just being crazy/stupid. haha. Congrats to all the teams that got bids and GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS ATTENDING!!!

Why call it Worlds if they only compete once? Most teams attending Worlds will be competing both days (if they make it to finals). Most, but not all, big comps are a two day event. This way it isn't a competition of who happens to hit the best just once but who is the most consistent and can do well both days.

I see what your saying, but there are many athletes that will never get the tumbling skills of a level 5 and never experience the worlds competition atmosphere, for instance Ive been working on my level 5 skills for 2 yrs, and just about proficent enough now and im a junior, I didnt qualify for my level 5 teams my gym has last season, because you pretty much have to have every level 5 skill, consistantly, and not janky, sure I guess I could of gym hopped and found a gym who would place me on a level 5, for the level 5 skills I did throw well at the time, and we all know there are lots of gyms out there that have level 5 with 1/2 the team only able to truely do level 5, but I rather be on a team that is 99.99 percent athletes with the same level 5 ability.
I guess my point is there really are some kids or gyms who cannot fullfill the level 5 requirements and to me the Summit sounds awesome, I like the idea of a "all levels worlds"- The Summit, there is plenty of level 5 coverage and talk and recognition for them. I for one would like to be recognized for being on an amazing level 4 coed team. Its really hard shadowing behind level 5. So this year the Summit is my "worlds" and if I get to worlds next year, no way would this have takent the experience away from me. :)

yourfavoritebackspot Ok I see where you are coming from now. I never really thought of it that way. Thanks for giving me another perspective!

DaniV yeah consistency is a good point. I wasn't bashing the two day competition, it was just a random thought. I was just thinking of more of a Cheersport type set-up where all the levels competed for a "worlds" title. But on the other hand, international teams wouldn't come all the way to the to compete in say a youth 1 or senior 3 (purely example divisions, no disrespect).

not that it would change anything or make the event different... but I have come to the conclusion that I would prefer the summit if it were a USASF event rather than Varsity.
