Okay so I am supposed to be a flyer but They've always put small kids (that are not allowed to be on the team because they are too young) on my team. This one coach says that Im too tall and will never be able to fly on a all girl level 5 but on a coed I can (IM 5'2 almost 5'3) Is it true that I'm too tall to fly on a all girl team? Im really flexible and have a needle and a overstretch bow and arrow. Also is 100.5-101 pounds too heavy to be a flyer on a 5?

We have a flyer on our S3 team who is at least 5'3" and over 110. It does take the strongest bases to get her up, but her body positions are beautiful. My CP is about 5'4", under 110, and the backspot. She does whine a bit about getting her flyer up, but she's more scared when she comes down ;) My av is CP 2man basing on her J3 team, so obviously she's strong.

I would say that on the surface, you are not too tall or too heavy to be a flyer on any age appropriate team... But it takes a group to lift a flyer. If the others on the team are much smaller and not strong enough, you may be ground bound, even with beautiful body positions.

We have a beautiful flyer on our Small Sr. 5 Team that is at least 5' 6" If you have the skills and the passion to fly I think you can fly.

The Bases are used to having to pick up bigger girls because they are crossovers on other teams with bigger flyers. The girls that are flyers on my team are just so small (5th graders) and they're not even allowed to be on the team. I've never flown before because they have always put little kids on my team. Im trying to get on a IOC5 and its no option i have to fly because I would be the smallest on the team.

As far as I can tell, 5th graders are legal on a senior 5R or below team. We are a really small program, and I know a couple of girls at the top of the grid for youth cross over to both junior and senior, legally maxing out on 3 teams at levels 3 or 4. I do know that those girls don't fly point or even in every stunt for senior.

To be honest, I would not want to be involved with a gym which used illegal athletes on its teams. It would really stink to be DQ'd at worlds if someone reported you for underage athletes.

What?? Too tall??? Girl you're tiny. There's at least 2 flyers on my team who are 5'6....5'3-5'4 being the average height. You're the PERFECT size to fly!

This is crazy, I'm 5ft3 and fly! In fact all the girls on my team are exactly the same height as me, except one girl who I'd estimate is about 5ft6! It just depends on the bases beneath you, obviously if you're in a team filled up with foetus flyers then it's not likely they'll be able to base you. If you're not happy and you're being held back, it might be worth trying out at some other gyms in your area and see what they say. You're definitely not too tall or too big to fly, you just need to find bases who are a good match!

To echo everyone else, 5'3" is absolutely average for flying! My point flyer is 5'7" and gorgeous in the air! Keep working hard, stretch and do whatever is asked of you- your time will come!!

Im 5'8 and have been that tall for 5 years while being a flyer! Point flyer actually ;) height really doesnt matter in 99.9% of the skills performed. And if you ask me, personally i think the talker the flyer the more sharp and gorgeous body poisitons look in the air!

I flyed and I'm 5'7 but it wasn't permeant just for fun but if they can left me I bet they can lift you! Ex: Maddie Gardner was a super tall flyer but she was an amazing one! I personally ink it looks better with tall flyer than fetus flyers!:)

Im 5'6' and I fly! Some colleges look for girls who are shorter to fly but it depends on where you go. Or if youre looking to cheer in college!
