AZ Power did not merge with SCI (at least not yet?!), but SCI is definitely now Chaos Allstars.
if in anyway power, storm or thunder are merging they will merge next 2014-2015 season. we all already have our teams laid out. thunder most likely will never merge for a long time.

Can someone from NC answer a question for me? Looking at a map, it seems that these locations are INSANELY close to each other. Wouldn't it basically turn into fighting with your own "company" for kids? Like instead of driving to CEA-Random City that is 15 minutes away, I'd drive to Kernersville which is 30 minutes away so I could be on Sr Elite or whatever.

It isn't uncommon for kids to do a team in their "home" city and a team in another city. If you look at a map our Kernersville and Salem gyms are 20 minutes apart. This hasn't hampered the program in either city and each one has a "vibe" all it's own. Different families are sometimes looking for different things in where they cheer and it's a safe bet that 1 of our cities has what that individual family is looking for. Let's say you lived in Sanford........their teams are well coached and choreographed and that level of commitment is different then say being on a team in Raleigh which is less than an hour away. If a kid were to one day want to be on Raleigh Sm Sr's then the parent would make the decision when to make that move so their athlete would have the best possible chance of reaching that goal.

I guess I think of it like this. Some want to train for the "Olympics" and we have options for that. Some might just want a fun activity that keeps CP busy and active and with their social peers and we have teams/locations that are perfect for that as well. As far as the closeness of CLT, Lake Norman and Concord it's not just the miles you have to look at. It's distance in evening traffic.....which can take much longer than miles accurately portray.

Kernersville has the distinction of being exactly halfway between Raleigh and CLT. In your story it would seem that all the Raleigh kids would want to drive to Kernersville for Sr Elite when the truth is we only had 1 girl from Raleigh on that team. Kids and staff there are happy to be building a quality team in the Jr and Sr (and other division's too) age groups that they can be proud of. Contrary to popular belief not everyone wants to cheer in K'ville or be on Sr Elite.

Awesome. Thanks for explaining! I'm not sure if you were getting the vibe that I was attacking or something, as I am genuinely curious. We could never have that many successful gyms that close to each other where I'm from, so I find this interesting.
From a business standpoint re: Kernersville being centrally located, wouldn't it make more sense just to expand K-Vegas and make that a Cheer Athletics sized facility and eliminate Raleigh and Charlotte? I think that's what I'm the most confused about as someone not from NC. Do you think the families would not make the commitment to commute from CLT or Raleigh?

Because she is Courtney, I know that plenty will give her crap for "opening another gym", just like last time expansion was discussed. There will those (a VERY predictable group) who will talk about how they have no respect for CSP anymore... Like they ever had any in the first place. ALL that hate while they happily discuss another Cali location or ACE gym. That is what I don't get... Is it just her?

People seem to have this mental image of Courtney having "Cheerleading storm troopers" that come in and invade other gyms and execute hostile takeovers. What I see is that Courtney sees gyms that are struggling, and need help to stay open. She offers them a shot at staying open and joining the "family". Kids get to keep cheering with their friends, their travel does not change, and some of them get to wear a uniform that they have always wanted to (not all, but for some, being part of CEA is a dream, but the distance is too far). To me, Courtney is doing very admirable things for those gyms an those athletes. Everyone in our locations knows where they have to travel to in order to be on one of those select few worlds level teams, and they are okay with that. As MrsTealtoYou said, each of our gyms has its own "vibe" that makes it unique.

Those that think she is some great Cheerleading evil just don't know CSP. I do know her, and all I see is one of the most loving, dedicated, and passionate coaches I have ever seen for all 1100+ of her "kids". She gives kids a place to go and do what they love to do, somewhat close to home. If you don't understand our location proximities, we might be able to explain traffic around Charlotte, and how being on opposite sides of the same city is actually still a 45 minute drive (which would keep some kids from being able to afford cheer). And for those who think he actually has time to go recruit kids to pluck them from other gyms, I simply have to laugh at you. "Haters gonna hate", I guess.

I think this is well said. There's been discussion on the board before about the strengths of each gym being equal to kville and many if the satellites aren't the same intensity that I've seen come from kville. I've watched that for years. And its true. i don't think thats a bad thing. But I think you explained it well, not every satellite has the same purpose, focus and level of commitment. Which explains that. Some folks may prefer that style for their cp and the satellites provide that, so people can choose their style of cheer.

After seeing kville in person over the last few months I sortof see it this way... A "mega gym" generally has multiple tiers of cheer to pick from, from Rec, prep, etc up to competitive worlds teams.

That system physically won't fit in kville. Kville is ONE floor that if you over rotate for tumbling pass you're out the window and in the parking lot. So the satellite gyms can create the same system they're just physically in separate places.

As for concord (on I 85) and Lake Norman (on I 77) they may look close but in Charlotte traffic....they're not. Last Thursday it literally took me an hour and 45 minutes to get to the Charlotte location, and I live 30 miles away. I can drive to kville (102 miles away) in the same amount of time...no lie.

But again, it's choices. I've now got my 13 y/o girl that has her heart set on the CLT JC5 and I don't think she needs to step up her intensity quite yet (she literally just turned 13 so well break her into CEA at home). My son on the other hand is so wholly focused on the intensity and possibility of Coed Elite....this family (from Charlotte) will be making the drive and I now have two kids registered in two places. In many "mega gyms" that could all be accomplished in the same building, but this system has those options in different locations.

No, CAC rollover this location, now known as CAC north.

I can't think of who it would be. United One? Galaxy? Victory?

One united is in mooresville at exit 36 so it wouldn't be that. Galaxy is 5 minutes from our house in Gastonia so it's not that either. My money is on Victory or Odyssey of Concord. They're the only ones I can think of that are out there unless there's a very small gym I haven't heard of.

@12stepcheermom Complete and total side note...Am I tardy to the party? Did everyone but me know your kids were doing CEA this year?
No, you're not tardy. :)

I think this is the first public post I've made about it now that all commitments and responsibilities have been honored at our former gym. Our banquet was Sunday so the 12step family gag order instilled during the season out of respect for our program has been lifted (which is still and will continue to be an outstanding program that I will continue to recommend). The parent boards were generally aware we were moving but this is the first I've said anything specific. ;)

Well, except for showing my blinging abilities in the bedazzled backpack thread on Sunday night.

I don't necessarily think it's hate for her, I think it's the confusion of not knowing why someone would open gyms so close. When ACE and Cali open gyms, they tend to be large distances away sometimes not even in the same state. I commend CSP for doing an amazing job running such a large empire in a small area.

And as Paul Harvey use to say..."and now.. The rest of the story". Unfortunately it will never be discussed.
