The Summit is NOT Worlds, so why does it have to be an issue to level 5 athletes that they are holding it in the same venue as Worlds? There are multiple cheerleading competitions every year at Disney and I don't hear anyone complaining about those? The Summit is finally a VALID event where you actually have to make finals, something these boards has complained about wanting for years. Now we have it! So the prize is a ring, that doesn't mean it's Worlds! Many teams who win NCA purchase rings for their athletes, no one complains about them.

A change of perspective is all it takes: it's a great National, must get a bid, eliminates bottom half for finals, has a ring for a prize. It should not even be compared to Worlds, because it's not Worlds.

The arguments should be about when and where (for accessiblity reasons), not what. JMO.
Amen sister!! :)

I really like the idea of having a year-end bid required nationals for lower levels, but I don't like the location. It's set up so similarly to Worlds that I think it might make your first worlds not as exciting, if you've already competed there on an almost-identical stage, especially if you've done it like 4 times over the years. Plus Disney is all the way on the east coast which makes travel hard from the western side of the country. I can tell you right now if my team got a full-paid bid to the summit we wouldn't go, because its too expensive especially to do every year from level 1-level 5 when you actually go to worlds.
I wish they would do it somewhere more central. The levels 1-4 definitely need a worlds-like year-end championship, but somewhere other than Disney b

Lets put Summit in the Midwest!! Make it the center for everyone, say Chicago or Kansas City maybe?

Our head coach was very impressed.
He said it was the best competition. We will definitely be going again next year. We are also going to UCA Disney as well. So they like it enough obviously that they don't mind us going twice in one season.

He really enjoyed the level of competition. Being in a division with 28 teams was awesome as well. He felt like there were some great competition in there and it's worth it. We will definitely be going back to get more Summit titles!!

Looks like it will be a new tradition of ours!!
Your senior 3 team was amazing and so was the sportsmanship of your coaches, who really supported our CP Valley Cheer Elite. Glad our gyms both brought home a Summit Championship Ring!!

How about this:
Summit is similar to the Junior Olympics and Worlds is similar to the Olympics??

You don't hear Olympic athletes complaining that the Junior Olympics takes away from the prestige of the Olympics.

But do the Junior Olympics compete in the same arenas? With the EXACT same setup for the Olympics (granted, you don't have much wiggle room in setting up gymnastics staging because it is what it is)?

We say it has nothing to do with the arena because how many people have competitions there: but didn't we hear all sorts of griping about how if they globe is gone, it isn't 'Worlds?'

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just giving some food for thought :p

The Olympics is never held in the same venue 2x in a row. I am not sure if a Jr Olympics has happened at a former Olympic venue.

Isn't the glory in making it to that level not the location of the event? I was making the comparison based on events not venue.

Also, if you see the girl in Summit Central to the left, you'll probably see some Fierceboard appearances on her laptop...

2013 Summit

I just thought I would throw out there that we only had one crossover on our ss3 winning team.

She crossed from j3 to s3 all season.

** just put that our there because I don't want our 1st of 28 placement to be diminished because of speculation.

Furthermore I wasn't aware that it was that big of an issue. Y'all are making me wonder how many people really had crossovers among levels? I had no idea!

2013 Summit
@whoatiger - Are there are many Summit Central Video's coming? We were in awards but our families watching on-line saw a Higlight Re-Cap of our team that we all missed but would LOVE to see - Cheerforce San Diego FRENZY in Small Senior 3 from Sunday Finals......Help????

In my opinion, I have mixed feelings about it. I think its wonderful that the lower level teams get to participate in a worlds type event. I don't think level 5 or level 6 athletes should be treated any differently than another level. I think it would be a great idea to have summit, ICU and worlds all in the same weekend. To make Worlds seem more special, they should just hold summit in a different venue. However, I think that all 3 should be moved somewhere in the middle of the country that way its easier monetarily for west coast teams to attend and that way money won't get in the way and you get a true representation of the talent from around the world.

I think Summit was amazing! We have been with Cheerforce San Diego for 4 Seasons and my kid will "probably" be Level 4 next season and she may even end up on Level 5 in the next couple of years - who knows.....

We do UCA Nationals in Orlando every year and we are a West Coast Program, we have Orlando dialed in and my FAVORITE part of Orlando is Friday Practices on the Football Field at All-Star Sports. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else when we go. All Star Sports it where it is at! Seeing teams practice - meeting parents and kids from all over - and cheerleaders scampering around all weekend - and the decorated windows at the hotel. Love All Star Sports!!!! Our gym take these "travel" events very seriously. We all know we are not their for vacation - of 5 times to Orlando I have been to the parks twice. We are there to compete. We practice Friday and our kids have curfews and diet guidelines and other rules they must follow. The kids know the fun starts after awards on Sunday!

My athlete has never been able to compete in HP "Milkhouse" - that was really special for her, but did she think it was Worlds or think Summit took away from Worlds...NOPE! If anything she said after ending in 5th Saturday and moving up to 2nd in Finals she realized more then ever how important the "little" things are (spacing timing etc etc etc) and saw more then ever what it takes to WIN on a National Platform.

We competed in the largest Division of the Competition - Small Senior 3 - we took home 2nd - and it's never felt so good - Our girls stuck 2 days in a row - no deductions either day and ended their season on a National Stage - with friends from home supporting them via live steam and it was the fiercest competition we had seen all season. For me - it was an experience we will never forget and our gym is committed to attending again in the future (i think) - I literally clapped so hard I busted blood vessels or something in my hand and it's all bruised and swollen and still hurts 4 days later!

It was a great event - fun - organized - ontime - awards ceremony was great - VarsityTV was awesome - stages were awesome - athletes prizes were awesome - being able to backstage after awards and take pics with Coaches Staff and the Athletes was AWESOME - and I love the idea of these teams getting a chance to be the BEST (or 2nd BEST) Small Senior 3 or Junior 1 - They are the best at what they do this season and maybe this type of event will feed the hunger for these athletes and they will work harder to get further and more and get to that actual WORLDS Stage!
