Our entire gym, with the exception of level 1's and dance, have routines done by choreographers. We used Tom Stec this past year for our 4's, Shane Allen for our R5 and a few others, and Keith (last name?) for our 2's. Level 1's are done in-house to keep those teams low-cost.

Don't know the price honestly but this year we used Matt Goto and worth it? yes yes yes times a million. That man is pure genius!

We love Matt!! He does all our music and came in a couple times to "update" our choreo and just give us some pointers.

awkward.. just realized I was thinking of Matt Goldberg. I know Matt Goto's name though so maybe he has done choreo for our gym in the past lol

Haha that's really weird, because after choreography Goto did come back and help us out and give us some pointers before one of our out of states! So it totally sounded like him haha

Tom Stec is really good.
So Brandon hale.
Twisted choreography is owned by Luke Johnson. This season he won choreographer of the year. If you need numbers I can provide for all them

YES!! Call me crazy but this year's SE dance was one of my favs- like they for real danced and he choreographed their dance! God he's also super nice too!!! NEVER seen him in a bad/pissy mood.

As far as dances go, Jamie Parrish has always been a favorite of mine but..... well, I think we all know what I'm getting at here. Not sure about pricing, but he is a choreography genius.

I'll tell you who not to use... Pure Energy Choreography. I guess they do VAS choreography so they're capable of doing something well but the product my team received from them was a flat out waste of money and time, there is no nicer way to put it. Incredibly unprofessional. Choreographer made us change our times for day 2 then left 2 hours early that day (so he only spent 6 of the 8 hours he should have with the team). The LEVEL 1 routine we were given hit almost nothing on the scoresheet (no level 1 stunt transitions aside from cradles, no team running tumbling, jump section was not designed to score well, etc). No creative transitions... just straight up walking from spot to spot. Eight count sheets with cryptic shorthand scribbled in pencil and the choreographer seemed offended to see me start typing the routine into an 8 count sheet I'd made on excel when I saw what he was doing. I ended up having to redo the whole routine to avoid having my team smashed to a pulp due to a routine that couldn't highlight the kids' skills... by our last competition, literally the only piece of Pure Energy choreography left in our routine was half of the opening.

Omg, are you secretly coaching my team?!!? Except we changed the opening 100% and kept a portion of the dance. I wonder if we had the same choreographer... we have had success with certain individuals that work with that company but as a whole, we will never use them again and that bridge has been burnt to a crisp

Who gets choreographers to do their routines ? What's normal price and is it worth it ?

Choreography is worth it, just depends who you get and what they know. You want to find someone who will work with your program and take your strengths to form a routine. You also want one who can choreograph to the brand of events that you will be attending throughout the season.
