Thou shalt relax and realize that in 10 years, no one will care about what team your child was on. The rest of the world does not care about who won World's or _________ Nationals. The rest of the world does care about what type of person your child turns out to be, how they treat those around them, and how they cope with situations that do not go their way. Your kids are watching you and how you deal with try outs too. Be the one to set a good example, be nice to those around you, don't trash talk other kids, relax a little bit, and just try to be that parent that coaches and other parents want to be around.

One shimmy was not enough. This is the exact perspective I try and preach to parents every year at tryouts. Kudos to you!

Thou shall not talk about how much better your old gym was, how much more experienced the coaches, how much nicer the parents. Don´t tell us you´re just trying out here because old gym hasn´t a team suzie should be on (level 4/5) or because you had to move because of job.
If it was so much better there .... you know ;-)

I was about to post something, then I realized that this thread is not in the parent section. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Well I guess you should PM me to get access to the parent section.

If going to a new gym/program thou shall remember where you came from and not talk bad about people who used to be your friend.

Remember that someone somewhere taught you those amazing skills that you are now proudly using at a new gym. They invested into you and may be stunned and hurt that you have moved on. Show a little grace and say thank you.

If an athlete moves on, let them go. Don't hold them back whether you agree with their decision or not. Let them go knowing you did the best you can while you could with them. You should have no regrets if you did that. And if you treat them right and they discover that they don't like it where they were, they will come back.

So I was wondering what thread was suddenly encouraging a bunch of requests to get into the Parent Section. . . thanks @mamarazzi
We occasionally offer a sneak peek into the (ironically) completely sane side of the boards. Parent section > butterflies and glitter.

Thou shall not buy over the top 1000$ gifts for your CP's coach at the end of the season banquet because tryouts are the following week!

Thou shall not volunteer to be team mom of the team (you want your CP on) before tryouts have even been held!

But it's ok if they do it for birthday and Christmas right???

@shecheers what's your thoughts on this lol?
