It's really a moot point considering they didn't break or even perceive to break any currently implemented rule. Whether or not it is fair, or in the spirit of the competition, doesn't matter, and furthermore, is something that the USASF would need to take into consideration.

Once you start saying things like "other small gyms can't." and "other gyms can't afford," you begin placing restrictions and regulations that will hurt bigger gyms, and help smaller gyms. When it comes down to it, these are all just different business looking to put out their best product come April. Some business have better employees, and more money, and smarter owners, and therefore, produce a better product.

Some of the analogies you used to defend smaller gyms seem like a good idea in theory if you try and consider the idea of good sportsmanship etc... That said, try and apply those types of restrictions to other sports and their would just be chaos. You see this same type of thing in gymnastics correct? People changing what trick they are going to perform to get a higher starting value, or changing it to a lower starting value because it is a skill they know they can execute perfectly. There are plenty of rules and regulations in the place already and if a team is breaking none of them and all they have on their side are good coaches, a group of talented athletes, and a music producer with a great turn around time, so be it. The little guy getting mad and claiming unfair this and unfair that is merely a way to mask their jealousy. If anyone had the same resources they would have done the same thing.

second did coed elite and lady elite get the same attention as sr elite? why no changes and new music for them? If they did I guess the attention didnt pay off for them.

Obviously I can only speculate but my first thought is that you can only do a complete overhaul of a routine with a group of athletes capable of executing such changes on short notice. It's no secret the kids on SE are the best of the best at CEA and probably most capable of doing a brand new routine day 2.

The second and likely scenario is that the coaches didn't feel changes of that magnitude were necessary in order to give those teams a chance to win or at least place in the highest position that their abilities and routines allowed.

I mean it's no secret that I think CSP is a genius. So my opinion isn't impartial at all.

I will say that on Friday the team knew that they would be practicing on Saturday after she had their scoresheets and feedback so there was already gym time set up for them. As far as transportation goes the parents on the team that had cars came to the hotel, the girls piled in and we drove them to the gym for practice. It's as simple as that. This was all planned before we even knew the scores. As an aside, in 2012 SE and Coed Elite both practiced at a gym after Saturday's performance's too. Our teams do this all the time. The fact that SE practiced on Saturday at a gym 22 miles away isn't new for us at all.

Had we been in 1st by 30 points our team would have still practiced as usual. We weren't though we were 30 points from 1st.......I'm astounded that anybody is surprised that a coach would practice with their team and change anything that would get them more points in FINAL's. Worlds is a 1 day competition. The spirit of the event is to bring your best at Final's. That's what she did.

Also wanted to say that feedback about the performance led her to call JR and ask if he would do a new song and he agreed. We were lucky that he could accommodate our request in a timely fashion. Let me ask this question......what if feedback for XYZ Allstars was that the running tumbling song was too slow and that was reflected in your tumbling scores. Wouldn't you do everything in your power to get a faster tumbling song in there so your scores would go up the next day? Is CSP the only person who would call their music person and say "Hey look here's the deal. Can you help us?" I can't imagine she is.
CSP is BEYOND GENIUS!!! she never ceases to amaze me!

I think the day will happen in the very near future where a team does one routine in semifinals and then comes out with a totally different routine at finals.

3. Judges comments would HAVE to be more universal. SE got a comment their music was slow in the pyramid. We got 'you just weren't fiery'. "Okay ladies. We're gonna spend the next 4 hours practicing the art of self-igniting." Problems could arise.

:shimmy:

Seriously!? "Weren't firey"? How on earth is someone supposed to quantify "firey" on a scoresheet?

Ok one thing they didnt "come back" from 30 points down! you started even on Sunday! that cea fell on sat was the reason your score was low. so no comeback sorry. Now if you would have counted the first days score yeah then it would have been a huge comeback. otherwise you hit one routine to win. second did coed elite and lady elite get the same attention as sr elite? why no changes and new music for them? Who called it a comeback? I didn't. I said we were 30 points out of 1st by Saturday's scores. (29 to be exact if my memory is correct) We did start even on Sunday which is why I said I didn't think what we did went against the spirit of the sport. Worlds is a 1 day competition. She changed some things and we brought the best routine we had on that 1 day. The way worlds is set up you only have to hit 1 routine to win.

I am not privy to Coed Elite or Lady Elite's itinerary so I'm sorry I can't answer that. The music comment was specific to SE that is why they had the change. From my understanding Coed and Lady Elite didn't have that music issue so their's stayed the same. As far as the last 2 questions that's just rude. I'm not even going to dignify the amazing routines those 2 teams put on all weekend with a response. A bronze for Coed Elite and Top 10 for Lady Elite....Hell yes.....we'll take it!!!

Gyms post all the time opening their doors to out of state teams. I think it's smart to be prepared. It's not lucky, it's being prepared when the opportunity strikes. Those are the types of gyms that win

Lots of gyms/teams rent out practice space at big competitions, not just worlds. As to why the rest of the teams in LAG didn't change their routine, it's risk vs reward. CSP has shown that she's willing to take a shot. It has worked out in her favor, obviously, but that doesn't mean it always will. It also doesn't mean that the other teams were wrong for not taking the same chance.

There was no unfair advantage. Lots of teams practice after prelims/semis. Whether they decide to do it on the grass vs renting space is a personal decision. Lots of teams make adjustments after getting their scoresheets. The spirit of the competition is bring the best you've got. On that Sunday, they made the necessary changes to bring the best they had. It paid off for them.

Let me start off by saying CSP is a genius beyond your belief. Always thinking ahead and that's the reason why she doesn't sleep till 4-5am. Second we did have a backup for worlds if we hit perfect and our score wasn't high enough. We practiced our backup for about a month (12 toss cupies). But as you know we didn't hit day 1 so put execution score, stunt score etc. weren't going to be as high as possible. So CSP asked us if we wanted to go and change stuff or try and perfect the routine we know we could hit flawlessly. We choose to perfect. We practiced for a couple of hours outside on the field perfecting our dance and pyramid. OUR choice.
As for Lady Elite, how dare you try and take their light away from them. This is their first year as a team together and coming from having only a handful of fulls, two doubles, and shaky stunts at the beginning if the year to putting out 2 amazing routines on that floor and making top 10 at Worlds, it was a dream come true and more than they could ask for. Those girls proved that they could compete against the other elite teams in their division and for you to overlook theoutstanding progress they made by asking that is foolish.
But to answer your question they did practice off of the critique the judges gave but had no reason to change anything because of how great their performance was Day 1.

@CEAJoeA thank you for coming here to speak to Coed's practice schedule.

And I couldn't agree more about Lady Elite. A lot of those girls were on my restricted 5 team the year before and I couldn't have been more proud of them!!! Shame on anyone that would try and use them for their own stupid arguments. Those girls didn't deserve that.

I think CSP is a genius. I have so much respect for her and her program! Nothing she did was unfair or against the rules she just does what it takes to win and I definitely applaud her for that! She really knows how to work a scoresheet! I'm sure other teams would have the same resources and could rent out gym space after day 1. So if the coaches, girls, and parents are willing to do it then I see nothing wrong with it!
