i've been making music for some time now, taught myself everything i know... I'm new to the cheerleading music though.. My girlfriend is a cheerleading coach for a AYC team, and i made their music last year, i'm working on it again this year....

I have built up my sound effects pretty good, getting better at the actual mixing, major thing i'm having a problem with is voiceovers.... i'm also a rapper, so i'm used to recording myself, it's just hard to get the sound i want for this, is there any certain programs you guys use for editing your voice?....

i have just been recording my voice in cool edit/audacity and editing the pitch.... are there any other things i could do to it to try to get that crisp clean sound?... any tips will be appreciated..

I record all my vocals in Pro Tools. If you want a crisp clean sound, a lot goes into that. You need a nice mic, an acoustically treated room etc...

Above is true! Equipment (Mic, pre-amp, interface, compressor, etc) and a properly treated room goes a long way. Next work on the voice, then processing the vocals properly.

Noise reducton
Centering the wave
Dynamic Processing (Compression)
EQ'ing
Chorus (optional)
Mastering the vocals

A great piece of equipment by TC Electronics is the Impact-Twin.

i have an akg condensor mic... m-audio fast track pro for the interface....

my words come out clear, but they always seem to be behind the music, OR too loud and over top of the music... sometimes i get lucky, but most of the time its hard to get it to blend well...

Sounds like you just need to practice and get better at mixing and processing vocals. Play around with EQ and compression and work on mastering your vocals. YouTube will be your best friend in all of this.

Getting your VO's to stand on top of the music or sit where you want them to volume wise, etc is all about EQ'ing in your actual project session and then mastering the final product properly.
