Is It Too Late To Start All Star?

Hi!

I'm 15 (going to be a sophomore in the fall), and I have been really interested in cheer for the last year, but I'm not sure if I could really succeed at all star. I think I would want to be a flyer (never actually tried stunting), because I'm pretty flexible, and I'm always pulling body positions at my house. I also don't really have any tumbling skills, besides a forward roll, handstand, cartwheel, and a really bad roundoff.

Do you think I should try tumbling classes or something? Or am I too old to start all star?

It never too late to start!! I would consider other positions before deciding on one part! Some teams move everyone to odd spots!

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO START CHEERING. I started at 13/14 with absolutely no cheer, dance, or gymnastics background. It changed my life. Cheer is something I'm extremely passionate about. I threw my first back handspring at age 15 and now I'm 17 and doing tucks! Nothing is impossible

I started with cheer with 24. Had a fierce forward roll, no flexibility and never lifted someone heavier than a baby.
Did no sport in school.
Cheerleading changed my life. ;-)
That's awesome, I started allstar cheer at 22 I had done two years of high school cheer. It's absolutely never to late to start in my opinion.

That is awesome! Hopefully there will be an international open team in central Florida that i can try out for next season

I started when I was 16, in grade 11. Cheer didn't exist at my schools before then, and all-star wasn't eve a blip on the radar. If you want to cheer, do it, but don't expect to be in a specific position. Go with where you will help your team best, whether it's topping, basing or backing. The more you can do, the more versatile and useful you are to your team

I'm the exact same age as you. This is my first all star season as well but I've been tumbling at an Allstar gym for a while. I don't think it's too late! You're also not too tall to fly with your weight. Depends on your flexibility and what your gym is like. I'm sure you can try something, I'm 5'4 and a base and you don't really need to be short to fly in my opinion:) hope this helped!!
