It's not new, the cheer athletics program has been counting pyramids for a while. Apparently it's a Texas thing, because I've heard of other teams in the area doing it too.

It's like the crowd yelling "hit, hit, hit, pull" for them to count out the pyramid. The crowd was off count at worlds and our girls had to yell extra loud to keep on the correct count. Can't believe no one got messed up!

See that worries me that people think they can just count it out in the crowd and a team is going to get so messed up from it I would feel terrible !

Excuse me I didn't read the whole thread before I posted... Seriously though I don't see how anyone would find it offensive. Teams that have all younger girls flying don't look impressive and that's a fact. Have a nice day!

Umm really? Well that's your first problem. I see you're new here but it's kinda common sense to read a thread before you post. Some people find that phrase offensive because it can be derogatory. There are much better ways to say that, you could just say "small flyers". No need to be rude...

Don't worry, not everyone find the term offensive. I have used it for years and will continue to use it as I see fit. It is a good idea though to read through a whole thread before posting, especially since you are new to the boards.

i like that you are so nice about it! i see newbies get ripped apart all the time and i think a lot of people feel that since we arent newbies anymore we for some reason are more "superior". yes i understand it can get annoying sometimes, but if you aren't in the mood to reply constructively than just ignore it and wait for someone else to

I thought that term was in reference to their size and ability at that level. I mean, I spot the 5 or so girls who are half the size of the rest of the team and think 'flyer'. Then I follow them through the routine. If they can do all the jumps, tumbling, stunting and don't look like a full body heave in the dance, they are flyers. If they have zero tumbling, jumps lower than their mommas, and squat during the dance they are prematurely placed on that team: fetus. Let them cook a little longer on a lower team and get to full term.
It's not just about size but skill level also. Guess that's why the term doesn't offend me. Meh.

I don't think my response was rude it could have been way worse but i wasn't trying to be mean however the response to me was kinda rude when I was just telling them it was already discussed. I hate when something is talked about in the first 4 pages and people choose not to read it and people go on a rant later about the same topic already discussed that's why I posted it

sorry, that wasnt directed at you! it was more of a general statement! some people take it waaay too far (not talking about in this thread), but my intention was to just commend them for finding a way to say positively! and i agree, your response wasn't rude, and i didnt intend for mine to be either!
