OT Short Base Probs.

It seems like whenever I base, I'm shorter than the other base. I can't help it that I'm "fun sized". My coach last season made my 4'8 height aware to everyone by classifying me as a "midget". Some of the girls were very, very tall, at 5'6 and even 5'7. But does anyone whose short have problems basing because the other base if a different size?

I'm not short. I'm fun sized. I'm also not and arm rest (lol)

It seems like I am never the right height in arm length for basing on my team. I am 5'3in and the tallest girl on the team but apparently I have very short arms. I never am able to match up right.

CP is not short, but when she is stunting with the senior team, she is the smallest base. She tries to keep her feet together as much as possible without losing stability and she tries to extend trough shoulders a little bit. It works, but the side base has to bend her knees - depending on the height difference more or less

The flyers never complain, she´s a good base and usually the back spot can grab a little higher than with tall bases.
Do you mostly base main or side?

I´m a side base and i never had problems stunting with short main bases. Yes, it is easier with someone as tall as me, but it can work. Just needs some time to find out how you need to stand under the stunt.

Sometimes I'm side base, and yeah, it is hard to be a short side base. I'm usually main base because I'm very strong

Yeah the strong thing isn't really my thing... Lol I did half year team last year and now I'm doing full year. Still getting used to it because I was a back spot last year.

Oh yeah. Transitioning from back spot to base is a hard thing.

I don't have this problem because im very tall but when I need to base with a shorter base I kind of lunge deeper and spread my legs apart more. I never make fun of short bases because I hate when people make fun of my height!

one year my stunt group was based by a girl 5 foot and the other was 5'6" the taller base would basically spread her legs and bend extremely low to make it work. and it always worked! our extensions looked like we weren't in extension though because we were a short group!

I'm 5'2" and have based both main and side. There is only one girl on my team that's shorter than me, but she flies.
Thankfully, most girls on the team aren't that much taller than me (the tallest girl this year is 5'7", she always backbases.) It sucks sometimes to adjust to height but hey, it's doable. I love basing, and proving to people that even at my height, I can do it

I have the same problem, but i'm a "tall flyer" ...too tall that I've actually never been put in the air, and I'm usually grounded as a third...
5 foot 8" problems....

I love short bases!! I'm a short back spot (5'6"), so I love going with shorter bases cos I can actually reach 2 hands higher on the ankle/leg. I hate having to go on tip toe to reach with only 1 hand.

I'm a short base at 5' 1" and I am often even basing girls much taller than me, but there is another base on my team about 5' 2" so we usually base together as it works well.
