We have 10 on the squad and want to do a ball up but it can only be braced on one side. Is this legal? Does the side bracer have to use both hands?

I'm not sure whether or not it's legal but i personally think that if you have ten people doing a single stunt, it won't look good. I'm imagining it as a stunt group with a clutter of people surrounding it.... If it's legal, could you try it with less people?

I don't think they meant all 10 people were in the same stunt. I think they meant is it legal only braced on 1 side cause they only have enough for that.

I don't know hs rules to know if this is legal, but if it must be braced on both sides, I would do 2 shoulder sits as the bracers...

Yes, it's a pyramid. I noted that we have only 10 to show we don't have enough for two bracers. Thank you all!

Where are you looking to compete and in what division? Every company has different guidelines that overlay the general rules. I learned the hard way last year at NCA HS Nationals when one of my teams received a deduction for a pyramid release that was only braced on one side. We had competed that pyramid all season at other comps where it was legal, but NCA has more defined rules regarding releases.

It's legal to be braced on just one side but it has to be braced by a shoulder stand with back spot or a prep with backspot since it is released. One way you could do it would be to turn both stunt groups to the side so that your prep flyer can hold both arms of the flyer. Do the ball up then turn both stunt groups out and maybe pull a lib with the outside leg then tik tok to a hitch with the inside leg. Adds transitions and movement, more visual than just a ball up.

I know under NCHSAA, you have to have one bracer and using both arms so the rule probably will be similar or the same.
