Do any of you run? I started 2 years ago just to get in shape for cheerleading and hockey (could barely go a mile the first time) and now I actually like it and since all my sports ended, I just run to stay in shape. I got a pair of Nike Free Run 3.0 about a year ago because they're light like cheer shoes and that's what I'm used to. And then they made my toenail fall off and don't really support my ankles and knees. So I've been just wearing an old pair of Nike cheer shoes and they just kill my knees and ankles with the lack of support.

Anyway, I'm running my first 5k race on Sunday and I should probably get an actual pair of running shoes...but I don't think I want Nike anymore. I never thought I'd say that haha because I ALWAYS get Nike sneakers, but I don't necessarily like them for running unless they have more support. What are some good running shoes that are light but have a decent amount of support?
I love my Sauconys. Have always used them.
If you are running this Sunday though you probably should break them in a little before running a 5K in them.

I wear Nike move fit, and I love them. I was worried about running causes I have a messed up knee but it feels fine while running!

I just went and got specially sized and whatnot and they brought out four different options that would work with how my knees and ankles are built when they watched me walk back and forth. I got a pair of Brooks and I did a few laps around my driveway and so far so good. I plan to go for an actual run tonight and see how they feel. If they are bothering me though I definitely won't wear them Sunday.

I'm glad you said you went to get fitted, I was going to recommend it after reading your first post! Brooks is a really good brand, I've had a couple pairs, and know some people who swear by them. I've always had good luck with Asics Kayanos, doesn't really matter what version, they're all good! Good luck with your first race!!

Thank you! I'm really excited and kinda nervous. I just don't go very fast. I can get the first mile right around 8 and a half minutes but after that I'm around 9 minutes. Hopefully being around so many other runners will make me move a little faster!

Can we talk about the fact that Kim and Kanye named their baby North... West. North West. Like I can't...
I laughed out loud when I read this. North West.
But also speaking of ridiculous baby names, for some reason I decided to look up Holly Madison today because I wondered what happened to her. And apparently she had a daughter and named her daughter Rainbow Aurora. Let that sink in. Rainbow Aurora.
I just... No.

Yikes! I'll take North West over that

Don't stress about time, your first race should be enjoyable, and you should just focus on finishing. Timing comes later! Just go out and have fun!

Thank you so much! I needed that..I feel like I'll be embarrassed if I take longer than I plan, but I really do just want to enjoy this. I just want to get into doing 5k's and hopefully a half one day. I just want to race as a way to work towards something like I have for so many years in cheerleading and hockey!
