Cradle To Prone

I have never found it arrogant. It's just knowledge. I have seen stunt groups cradle to the stomach. This may be illegal, I am asking. Where can you find it on the Usasf rules portion. I see the part as related to twisting, head and shoulder areas, numbers of people etc. I just missed the part where it says only on back. For example a team on a level 3 from a two legged stunt at prep level, cradled to a stomach, not inverted, mad a stop then forward rolled out of it. I am the first to admit I constantly learn but I am curious now. Please help.

It doesn't meet the glossary definition of cradle, which means it's not considered a dismount, therefore goes to stunt rules. The most restrictive stunt rules that would apply would be the release move rules. L3 Stunts J3 says release moves must start below prep level so what you described is illegal.

Got it.

It's in the glossary:

Cradle - A release move in which catchers, with palms up, catch the top person by placing one arm under the back and the other under the thighs of the top person. The top person must land face up in a pike position.

ETA... Too slow! :)

Level 4 states release moves may not exceed extended level, so a release to prone from extended should be ok, right?

Lol! To me, the hardest part of rule interpretation is cradle/dismounts/stunt release moves. It's the trickiest and I see it where the most innovation comes from.

I find it impossible to be innovate at all considering I can't understand any of the jargon. Hoping the Usasf coaches conference rules course in August will help me because I feel like an epic failure with how much so struggle to understand, interpret and put into affect these rules.

It can be done. We'll give you a little room, but don't pop the hell out of it.

The only dismounts are cradles and pop downs from a rules perspective.

It should help. Read Level 1 every day for the next 4 weeks. Don't worry about the other levels until you've done that.

Which meeting are you going to, Dallas or Costa Mesa?

thanks so much everyone, so awesome to have such quick responses!

Hoping that it will help me be more understanding of all these rules! I actually have two videos I need evaluated for level 2 legality and would love to email you if I could. I can't figure out how to put a video on here :(

Send them to [email protected]. I'll be in Costa Mesa if I'm in the country.
