Would a back handspring that is "caught" in a prone position be legal in level 2? I was looking at videos of Large Junior 2 on the Wiki from last year and saw Woodlands Elite do this toward the beginning of their routine -

I like it but didn't think it would be legal because I'm pretty sure the level 2 tumbling rules state that all tumbling skills must begin and end on the performance surface. If this is legal, how does it not break this rule? Our Junior 2 team was playing around with something similar, but with a round off that was caught prone but we were thinking it might not be legal.

Thanks.

Okay - I rewatched the video and I'm assuming it's legal because the girls doing the back handsprings hands never leave the floor. The girls on their knees stop her in a handstand position before inverting her. Would it be legal to do something like this where the bases are standing and catch the back handspring almost in a push up position then lift her to a prone position and pop her to squish? Does that make any sense at all - lol.

Kind of different and I may not be of much help but my daughters youth 2 last year had this originally

When the flyers hit the handstand the group would throw her like literally my daughter would complete the flip and be caught.. But they changed before we even competed saying it was not legal...

They changed it to this

(That's not their music, I recorded this from someone else's video while a different team was performing so its someone else's music) my kid looks bad lol
Anyways but you can see in this one they literally pick her up and turn her up right. It doesn't really have the wow factor

I only wrote this because I know it had to be changed for a reason. I'm not sure why but maybe that's the same reason that makes the woodlands video legal!

Good luck

It's legal in the 2nd vid cause she's braced the entire time. The first vid is a level 3 skill.
