do Cheer Athletics and Spirit of Texas see a lot of athletes come and go between the two programs. this year and last year were the only two seasons that i noticed athletes openly saying they were leaving one of the two gyms for the other. is that normal for your program?

We have traded a few athletes back forth pretty much much every year for the last 15 years or so. They get some of "ours" and we get some of "theirs". It is normal. I'm not sure who has actually gained more athletes that way, but it is my guess that it is close to even. We have very different styles and personalities, so sometimes the other gym is a just a better fit for some athletes.

We have also both had people switch and then switch back.

I think its awesome how you have respect for a seemingly rival gym and athletes' choices :)

I didn't see this asked, but is Cheer Athletics considering attending The Summit 2014 this season? It was my understanding that last years event announcement came too late to schedule it - just wondering if y'all will be participating in the event with your lower levels this season?

will ca be going to the summit next year?

We don't know yet. If it were anywhere else but Disney World, it would be much more attractive. The price/value ratio for events there is generally much less favorable there than any other venue we compete in all season. We have to be careful of where we spend our athletes', families', and our money to make sure that what we get in return is actually worth it.
Example: NCA Nationals is incredibly expensive, but we view the value of the experience is worth the cost. We will have to do more research to see if the Summit can do the same. Wide World of Sports is a tough sell for us as we view that as being among the worst venues we have ever competed in, but we will try to look at it objectively.

This is a wonderful policy!!! Especially considering that at the end of the day, these are just kids. I can't imagine that many people would be prepared for the level of visibility that comes with level 5 allstar cheering. Especially when you're on the younger side of things. I know that at 12-18 years old, I would not be able to withstand the pressure put on some of these kids. They must have good parents and good mentors.
