It's so interesting to see cheerleading like this. And honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I understand the whole idea behind it and I was in awe at that first team's backwalkovers; I rewinded it a good eight times because they were so amazing! But coming from Illinois and being on both all stars and high school I can't get used to this format. Music and crazy dance moves are more my taste but the skill here is excellent. there's no denying that.

Oh, and since I've noticed the whole discussion on voices I've always been taught to "cheer like a man and use my diaphragm" It was awkward for me at first but it's so natural now and when I try to teach my girls they get jealous of how deep my voice can go and how loud I get. I guess it's just all about how you were taught because high squeeky voices or "natural" voices sound like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I wonder how well an all star program would do in Michigan considering the state is so used to this format and seems oblivious to the outside cheer world. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just kind of bizarre to me but I wonder...

I'm almost positive you can't cheer all star and competitive in Michigan (there's a possibility my coach just didn't allow it, but I think it's a rule) but there are some talented all star gyms! I think 3 different gyms competed at worlds and some took teams to the summit. :)

Yeah, it's a rule. I think if you do allstar, then you can't compete high school for two seasons or something like that.

This is probably the craziest form if "cheerleading" I have ever heard of. If they had the same rules in Georgia, schools wouldn't have enough girls to make an entire team, because at most schools around my house, over half of the squad cheers allstar as well as high school.
