CP just got contacts because her eyesight is awful and refused to wear her glasses to cheer. She is on the young side for wearing contacts, but her doc let her as long as she could prove that she could take them out and put them in herself. It took her two sessions before getting the hang of it, but being able to see has made a difference in her stunting. I recommend talking to your eye doctor about it.

What type/brand of contacts does everybody use? I'm looking at different brands of contacts to help me choose a good fit. I made an appointment with my doctor so when I see him I can ask about the certain brands just to give me an easier selection of contacts. :)
CP uses the Accuview dailies. Your fox should be able to recommend the right brand for your needs.

Acuvue 1 day moist (daily disposables w/UV protection "UV Blocking" as it says on the pack). However, knowing so much about contacts and how different people's needs are (including your eye shape, severity of your nearsightedness, etc. There are plenty of other good brands that your dr will explain to you based upon your needs and desires (daily disposables, weeklies, monthlies, etc). Prior to these my favorite brand was the Focus Night/Day monthlies and weeklies. Even though you can technically wear them to bed- I only slept in them on occasion bc it's not good for your eyes to do that- I've known people who sleep in them all the time, but there can be serious repercussions to doing that- talk to your dr about all of those things.

I strictly have contacts for the reason that a lot of the time in being active. I wear my glasses on days when I don't have practice or anything. I haven't wore any since I've broke my leg. But when I'm cleared for physical activity again (gym, workout) I will have a reason for contacts again.

Hopefully if you decide to get contacts, they do a little eye scan thing that sees the shape of your eye. They didn't for me and I went 2 years hating my contacts, they moved all the time and randomly decided to pop out of my eye. Then when we switched to a different eye doctor, they looked at the shape of my eye and realized my eyes are flat compared to the average. They ordered me contacts that went with the actual curve of my eye and now I LOVE my contacts. They're so much more comfortable! :cloud9:

Pardon my asking, but did you go to an optometrist bc that is absolutely crazy!! Contacts require a fitting- it's a non-negotiable thing and usually a separate fee from the actual eye exam! I would report that dr bc poor fitted (or lackthereof) contacts can cause harm. It's not just for comfort. I'm just floored to hear this!! Never in the 24 years I've worn them has ever happened!!

I actually think it's illegal in most states to prescribe contacts w/o the fitting (determing the base curve of your eye)

While I was wearing glasses at open gym when I was younger, I was messing around. I did a backward roll and kneed myself in the face. This resulted in 2 black eyes in the shape of my glasses. So I would switch to contacts. One, because its easier to deal with and two, its probably safer.

Yeah it was an optometrist! They closed and I'm thankful because now I have contacts that actually fit my eyes. I wonder if they closed "just because" or if they were in trouble for something

I actually just went to the eye doctor today :p

I'm near sighted and I wear Focus Dailies Toric for Astigmatism (lazy eye) but I may be getting a new brand because my prescription changed and they don't carry the exact prescription I need. My left eye is -1.25x90 and my right just changed and they won't tell me what it is (freaking Target optical center)

Astigmatism is actually not lazy eye but rather an irregularly shaped cornea; my husband has this.

I have a mental block on putting contacts in, no joke. I got one in once (at the eye place) and it took forever. And then taking it out was so painful. Never again, ugh.
You're not alone  I went in about a year ago to try and put them in and i just couldn't, it took forever and i didn't even get one in. Im going back soon to try again but i doubt im going to get it..

In the past year, I have switched to the daily soft contacts that you're able to throw away after a days use and I absolutely love them! They are more expensive than the traditionals but I think they make up for it. That being said if you aren't comfortable wearing contacts for whatever reason, my mom used to tie clear elastic (that I know you are able to find at stores like Joann Fabrics) onto my glasses to literally hold them around my head when I cheered in elementary school and I remember that working as well.
