Cheerleading Ireland

So I've just saw a post here about Irish cheerleaders. I totally didn't realise there were that many hanging around. Anyway, I have a question for you all:

Are there any International Open 4/5 teams in Ireland? I've come over here from the USA due to my dads work and will be here for the foreseeable future and really want to keep on Cheering. Problem is I've aged out of senior at this stage but would love to keep going. Can any of you Irish cheerleaders help a sista out with some info?

I'm in the process of setting up my own team at a gymnastics club I started taking tumbling classes at, but unsure whether we'll get funding to make the team a reality even though we've started training, so I'm trying to keep my options open, I really don't want to give up cheer but Ireland seems to lack high level open teams!

I'm not 100% sure about Ireland, but in England and Scotland there is no 'ageing out'. You can compete at a senior level past the age of 18 if you wish, and many people do. The average age of athletes on my old senior team was probably about 15/16, but we had a range of ages from minimum senior age to about 25! It's not ideal but because the sport here is still growing it would be counter intuitive to have people ageing out.

If you google the UK Cheer Forum, they have a map of teams in the UK and Northern Irish teams contact info should be on that map, if you're in Republic of Ireland then it's still worth having a look and maybe posting a thread on there too

Hi @lolo I am in Northern Ireland if you let where about in Ireland you are based I can try and get you in touch with a cheer squad near you.
Senior teams here have no upper age limit so you would be able to join a squad ok, my oldest senior is 22.

Oh that's fantastic! I'm 20 so I was worried I'd be the oldest on a squad haha I'm in South Dublin!

Oh I actually got a message off his the other day!

I've been coaching gymnastics & taking tumbling lessons at Olympian Gymnastics Club in Dublin! Used to compete up to level 8 so they offered me a job coaching their competitive teams and I'm bringing them round to converting their 'Display Team' into a cheer squad! I'm actually charting my progress of making them into cheerleaders on my tumblr! haha

Omg!!! This past season I cheered for a girl that was from Ireland. We won nationals and he went back to Ireland couple months ago.

This is probably off topic, but does anyone know where I could get tumbling coaching in and around Belfast? I wanna try do cheer again but I've lost all tumbling

Depending in your level you might need to go to a gymnastic gym as a lot of the cheer clubs around Belfast don't have a lot of tumbling on offer and some are closed for the summer.
If you let me know your level I can try to give you a few places to try.

They've been off for the summer so these pictures are all from like Feb-May but the aim come September is to set them up with a full routine! We had hoped for level 4 this year but I think we'll be sticking to Level 3 for this season! Here's the link!:
