Acuvue 1 day moist (daily disposables w/UV protection "UV Blocking" as it says on the pack). However, knowing so much about contacts and how different people's needs are (including your eye shape, severity of your nearsightedness, etc. There are plenty of other good brands that your dr will explain to you based upon your needs and desires (daily disposables, weeklies, monthlies, etc). Prior to these my favorite brand was the Focus Night/Day monthlies and weeklies. Even though you can technically wear them to bed- I only slept in them on occasion bc it's not good for your eyes to do that- I've known people who sleep in them all the time, but there can be serious repercussions to doing that- talk to your dr about all of those things.

I used to have Focus Dailies and hated them. They were really flimsy and thin and if I rubbed my eye they would get lost under my eyelid and I'd be fishing around for them. I use Acuvue TrueEye now which have a little more substance to them. They're much pricier but I don't wear contacts every day so what would normally be a one month supply lasts me 3-4 months.

I prefer the dailies because I can throw a few in my purse or throw them away if they start bothering me. I don't have to keep them in the case with solution. I found when I wasn't wearing my contacts frequently that they'd have dried out in the case by the time I wanted to wear them again. Now I end up with a pile of discarded contacts on my nightstand, ha!

Also, my fiancé gets really weirded out when I put them in or take them out. He thinks it's weird that I can touch my eye. But the thing is - you're not touching your eye. When you put them in, your fingertip doesn't touch the eye itself. And it sort of does when you take them out, but you're not touching your pupil which is the awkward part. I can't just touch my eyeball with my finger either.

And last thing, contacts take time and practice to get used to. I struggled at first as well, but now I can put them in easily. Sometimes they're a little uncomfortable if I get a piece of dust in there and sometimes it's hard to take out, but with practice it gets much easier. I know that feeling of "oh my god I can't get it out" panic, but it just takes experience and practice.

For those who can't do it or takes them too long, I used to be awful. I first got contacts in 6th grade and it literally took me hours. My mother used to wake me up two hours before the bus came so I could get them in and the majority of the time she'd have to put one of them in for me. Once you start doing it for a while, you develop your own tricks. I can now put them in wherever and whenever without a problem.

I just switched to dailies in February and its the best thing I've ever done for my eyes. First I have awful seasonal allergies and I haven't had any problems with my eyes this season because I get a new pair every day. I think the feel better also because they are always fresh.

I agree that they ate thinner and flimsy and get lost in my eye if I rub too hard, but a small price to pay. Dailies are a bit more expensive though. Winds up being about $1 a day to wear dailies for me.

And glasses at cheer have never been an option for me as my better eye is still worse than -5.0. Without glasses or contacts, I can't see who is standing directly in front of me. Everyone and everything is a blob of color.

I'm telling you, try a different brand! I haven't had that problem since I switched from Focus Dailies. I pay roughly $160 for a 90 day supply.

I started wearing contacts my junior year of high school. I just took my glasses off for practice until then. Even after I got contacts I still never wore glasses or contacts when I competed. That way I couldn't see the crowd and it kept me from getting too nervous. To this day my team mates are like "I don't know how you competed like that" as I have terrible eyesight but everyone is different! I wouldn't recommend that practice to everyone, hahah.

Which do you use? I have acuvue moist. And I love them. I've only had the eye rub thing happen twice since I got them. The only time I notice they are thinner is when I take them out of the case. If my fingers are too wet it folds a lot easier than othera.

Acuvue TrueEye, they're relatively new. If it's only happened twice, you're probably fine then. I used to lose mine all the time. Ugh.
