I wish someone would have told me how depressed I'd be when it was all over. All Stars was some of the best memories I ever made.

Yep. Even as a parent it's depressing when it's over. I still have all my mom and coach friends I've made over the years, and it's so sad to see all the cheer stuff on Facebook and know that it's over for us. It's astonishing to me how overwhelmingly sad that makes me sometimes. I know my cp is excited to be growing up and experiencing all these new life changes, but she's having a tough time dealing with no more cheer.

Cost. If it wasn't for the cost I would probably either still be coaching gymnastics or retired from coaching period.

Commitment. Takes on whole new meanings both in the positive and the negative aspect of it. How allowing for an exception to the rules for one athlete - especially in regards to skills can have a negative effect for the entire season on the entire team. And how so many can not see why if you make it for one, why everyone else won't want the same exception.

Change. I was used to gymnasts who made elite level or national level teams to change gyms to get to a regional type training center gym to continue that climb. You knew as a gym if you did not have an elite coach or certain equipment standards that that athlete would eventually leave. But they rarely left until they hit that mark. Even though it hurt it was understood. I was totally unprepared to see it filter down to even the level 2's and 1's in cheer. Totally unprepared to see it happen because an athlete did not make a level team they did not have all of the skills for. Especially changing just for color uniforms, even if being a nugget and front spot just to say they were on a winning team/program.

Controversy. Every year it is always something. Keep tuned. :)

Camaraderie. You can truly make friends for life both near and far.
