thank you all for bringing this back! haha I move in three weeks and I'm in a triple:eek: but so far my roommates and I pretty much have everything all planned out! and I've got most of stuff for my room that I can take with me! (going to school in Texas, currently living in California, so I'll have to buy majority of bulky items there)
I'm also living in a triple! My roommates are really nice! One is bringing a microwave, one is a culinary major so food wise we're good to go :p We need to talk about who's getting the shower curtain, cleaning supplies (I got some so we'll make a calendar of who's going to clean when)

PACKING TIP!!
I know it seems like you need to compact everything the best way possible but that actually makes things more difficult. If you can keep things organized and by how you'll be putting them in your room.
For example, it might make sense to just pack clothes in bags but if you'll have a closet keep your clothes on hangers and pull a trashbag on it. Tie it by the hangers and you'll be able to just put the clothes in your closet and cut the bag off. Or I have a set of plastic drawers I'll be putting in my bathroom. I'm organizing it all at home now and when I move into school I'll just throw it in the car and bring it into my room and it's ready to go!
Essentially, you're eliminating a ton of clutter and messes when moving in. It gets really overwhelming when you have a ton of stuff and no true direction as to where to put it. It also saves time!!

That's good! Seems like everything is going well for your dorm then!
I'm just a little nervous about the triple because my roommates are already good friends and I'm kind of just getting thrown in there with them. But for your dorm we already have: a micro fridge, tv, printer, rug, and coffee maker all split between the three of us. So all I need to get still is mainly my storage items!

I won't be living in a dorm, but an apartment and I'm pretty nervous. I'm a transfer student from community college so although I'm older I'm still going to miss my home. But then again I am only 15 minutes away... But still.
I've bought a few things but I still need to go buy a bed. I think my roommates and I are going to officially live there a week before school starts. Only one other roommate and I are attending the campus close by but our 3rd will be commuting to another campus about 20 minutes away by train.

My sister is freaking out about her dorm being "boring" so I think I'll share some of these ideas with her! She's moving in a week early for Rush so we're almost done and have all the big stuff but there's still time for fun little things!

If she's rushing, tell her to hold off on wall decor. I accumulated so many canvases and random wall art when I joined my sorority that it got to the point where I didn't have enough space with all of the stuff I had before!!

I also made the move to Texas from California and for those bulky items, I recommend a program Bed, Bath, and Beyond has. Idk if they have a store in Waco (you said in another thread you're going to Baylor, right?). But if so, you can go to a Bed, Bath, and Beyond in California and scan everything you want and they'll have it all packaged and ready for you to pick up at a local store when you get to Texas. And you can always decide you don't want an item anymore when you get there.
Of course if you want to go shopping for larger items in Texas, that works too. This program just made the move a lot easier and more stress free for me so I thought I'd share :)

Thank you so much! Yes I am going to Baylor, and there's really not much in Waco. So my family and I are flying into Dallas and doing shopping there and renting a car to make the drive to Waco

You're welcome :)
That makes sense. Sounds like a good plan!
Good luck on the move! Texas is different but you'll love it. It's an awesome place to live.

There's a Bed, Bath and Beyond in Waco and a Target - both good places to get dorm stuff if you'd rather shop after you see what you need. :)

It's so cool to see American dorms! They're so much prettier than our's, we're not allowed to change anything and if we leave any blu-tac or pin holes in the walls then we have to pay for them to be repainted! All the furniture in my room was fixed as well. (Only now do I realise I never took a good picture of my room)

As you're looking at the picture, on the right was a wardrobe built into the wall and on the left was my ensuite (tiny wet room with a toilet and sink, nothing fancy) which is why the bed looks like it's round a corner, the ensuite juts out into the room.

Over here absolutely all rooms are single, there were 16 rooms on a corridor and we all had our own ensuite bathroom. We shared two kitchens, each kitchen had two sinks/fridges/microwaves/ovens etc.

And this was my favourite wall in my room last year, we moved out of Halls and rented a house :)
