@auscheerflyer how was the 2 day experience? I know that 2 day comps are my CP's favorite.

I don't want to hijack since it's a video thread, but my first 2 day comp experience was definitely interesting! I had a blast & definitely loved the unique challenges of the 2 day event, and the opportunity to perform twice; but here were some general observations:

- For the first time there was video playback backstage that coaches could immediately look at after the routine when they were giving the scoresheet. Therefore, if we were given a deduction for an illegal move, they could immediately contest it with a rules judge and watch the video to point out the section of the routine. I know of one team that moved from 3rd to 2nd on day 2 by arguing for deduction that was ultimately removed. I also heard of athletes being getting things like 7.5 point deductions for wearing jewellery, but when the video was watched it was proven to be a bra strap, and the deduction was removed.

- This was the first comp with huge screens on each side of the mat. I know some athletes found it a little disconcerting when they went to do tumbling passes and could see themselves on the big screen!

- It made me realise that we are not at all 'conditioned' to perform twice. There's very much a 'one and done' mentality when it comes to competing , which made it hard to mentally give it 100% on day 2. I'm sure this will change moving forward.

- Weighting of the two days was 40/60 which I thought was great. There was a lot of movement in scoring and teams that were in 1st day one definitely didn't always come up on top on day 2. We had 30 points of legality deductions on day 1, but only 1.5 for a bobble on day 2 and managed to still place 1st in our division.

- We had a US world's judge flown out for the event (which was awesome!) but her legalities scoring was very tough! On day 1 we received 30 points of violations, as did many other teams (mostly for base grips), and we had to go to the gym on Sunday morning to completely rework some stunts. I know we weren't the only squad that had to make significant changes before day 2, but I loved the opportunity to get to do that.
