I live in the state next door and have never heard of either....
Hard to explain what Taylor Ham/Pork Roll is. It comes in a round thick slice (when purchased prepackaged and cut into slices) and it's kind of a cross between ham and bacon. We cut 4 slice marks into it and fry it (so it doesn't curl up and cooks evenly).....so bad for you, but so good! I know you can't get it everyplace, my parents lived in upper New York State and later North Carolina and that was one of the things that we always had to bring them that they couldn't get there.

Just googled it and it looks similar (although a little thicker) to Canadian bacon....

Same here! I stop at the Farmer's market near diving...today got 3 pints of blueberries for $5. It drives my dh crazy because it will take me forever to pick out fruit...I read every sticker to make sure I'm not getting something from South America or Mexico.

Exactly. I refuse to eat fruit from South America or Mexico...and states that aren't having the growing season for that fruit... I just cannot.

I was wondering when someone would address Taylor Ham on here. We learned about it last year at Battle at the Boardwalk. Thank you, NJSE!
See, cheer is culturally educational too!

Taylor Ham is that salty goodness that makes your mouth water when you smell it cooking and it tastes best on a bagel or hard roll with or without the egg and cheese. @cheermommaRN @wiscoggirl when you order a Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese to go at a bagel shop or a deli, they hand you a little silver wrapped sandwich and on it they have written TEC or TC or TEC+SPK so you know which sandwich is yours. T=Taylor Ham E=egg C=cheese S=salt P=pepper K=Ketchup. Please don't tell me you live in the land of Catsup? Cause I have no idea what that is and we definitely can't be friends, nor can you sit with us. :p

I had no idea it was a NJ phenomenon....I guess it is kind of like how we don't pump are own gas and he we have the best diners, great bagels and really good pizza. NJ is actually really beautiful too...I live in the garden part of The Garden state, with a lot of tree's, flowers, and horses. It is sad that people think NJ looks like Newark Liberty Airport cause it is way more than that.

Can I just add how stupid I look when I travel out of state and have to pump my own gas....it must be a learned skill. Who knew?

@cheercurl I love you!!!! Would love to run into you at a competition this year! Only thing is my daughter decided that she wanted to do High School competitive cheer and work on her tumbling something that could not be done with the All Star gym she was at. But low and behold, the local All Star gym (small gym with a Sr. lvl. 4 as their top team) and the gym that her High School practices at made it so that she can do All Star and High School at the same time as they are going to all the same comps and they are working around her HS practice schedule. So hopefully we will run into each other.
