Hey y'all I just wanted to get your opinions and ideas on some things to motivate athletes to get that next skill! I know some gyms have a bow club and with certain skills you master you get the bow designated for that skill. Some gyms do the same thing but with t-shirts. Please share what your gyms do or if you know of what other gyms may do! And feel free to share pics if you have them!!

I personally love when I see gym Facebooks post a video when an athlete gets a new skill, even if it's just a back walkover. New skills are really exciting and it's a fun way to show it off and make the athlete feel special.

What gym is it where they ring a bell if they get a new skill? World Cup?

When I was a gymnast, we had a giant list of skills/the 9.0 club. If you got a new skill, you could add a star sticker under your name and skill. If you got a 9.0 at a meet, you'd get a certificate posted on the big garage door that listed your name, the event, and the meet.

I think that's a pretty common thing but yeah WC does it. Our gymnasts used to have a bell and I've been to other gyms with bells too

We could definitely up our Facebook posts!I've even thought about buying different items from some of the kids' favorite gyms and allowing them to chose a shirt, a sport bra, a pair of practice spanks, or even a bow! Just trying to find things to push the kids past their fear of skills they are beyond ready and capable of attaining and maintaining!!

Yup that's us! You ring the bell, and perform the skill in front of the whole gym an everyone cheers for you. The bell has the famous leopard bow on it too :p

we used to do work for bows in my old gym. whoever managed to get a skill first would get a bow. Thing was that it was pretty expensive. Now only on special occasions, like when we do choreo camp or tumble camp, we give about 5 bows, not just for getting a new skill, but also for someone that stayed motivated even if she didnt hit the skill yet but didnt give up trying.
our gym doesnt allow us to post pictures of video's of kids, so we dont post those on our facebookpage, but we'll place a special shoutout.
Every week we put a quote of the week on the mirror in the gym. Some motivational quote they should keep in mind during that week.
We also put a list with skills of the month on our message board.
For the coming season i'm still making up my mind, or we do the thing with the bell so everyone needs to watch or the girl gets a rhinestone on her practise bow for every new skill, so the more skills, the sparklier the bow.

I LOVE when the gym owners post videos of skills that athletes have achieved. I have also seen gyms that have an achievement wall and when an athlete gets a new skill they put their name and skill on a star and hang it on the wall.
I am not a fan of material things in exchange for new skills. I pay enough and give up enough for them to have the privilege to cheer, and I wouldn't trade it for the world, but I feel athletes need to gain new skills for their own sense of pride and accomplishment, and not because they wanted a new practice outfit or cash.

I saw a picture of this, don't remember what gym it was that had it. But in the lobby they had a section painted on the wall for The Back-Handspring club, The Back Tuck Club, The Full Club, so on so forth. And in each section people could put a sticker with I think their name on it depending on what skill they achieved.

At my old gym, we had a cow bell you got to ring if you got a new skill, and then preform it in front of everyone in the gym. You had to land it 3 times in a row to officially "get" that skill.
We also had big blank picture frames called "Jr. and under backhandspring club," "standing tuck club," and "double club" that athletes got to sign the glass with a dry erase marker when they got the skill! I thought it was pretty cool cause they didn't erase them so, especially for the double club, your name on the sign holds your legacy even after you graduate :)
