After some help from my Gamma Chi, I did not suicide. My issue was I didn't want a bid from my second choice (overall fourth choice) and would have dropped from them anyways. At VCU there is no COB or spring rush, so having to wait isn't a penalty. But because our Greek life is so small word does get around and it's frowned upon. But I did put the second choice down to increase my chances of getting my first choice.

To anyone faced with this choice: put both!!! If you get a bid from the second you can always drop, but chances are good you'll get a bid from the first

Is there really no COB? I feel like nationals would push getting to total.. My chapter has a senior graduating this semester and we're already predicting spring recruitment/COB because our nationals will more than likely tell us to go for it.

The only time people are eligible for COB is if either of their two choices did not give them a bid. Otherwise they said spring rush is very very rare and only happens if a huge number of seniors graduate in the winter. There just isn't enough interest at my school, some like 3% of the student body participates in greek life

I have to come up with three things/interesting facts about what i did in highschool/college. All I can think of is honor roll.

Cheerleading, of course! Any clubs or special interests/hobbies? Cool jobs?

Did you travel at all with your family? Volunteer work? Paid work?

Guys, how should I feel about the things I read on Greekrank.com? I didn't really know anything about the chapters at my college going in, and I really like my new sisters, but I was out with them tonight and someone mentioned Greek Rank so I decided to look, and it says some really terrible things about my chapter, some of which were things I had begun to note. Opinions?

ETA: really terrible might be an overstatement. More like just generally not good

please do not listen to any of the greek gossip websites. its all negative people, who have no clue what they are talking about. use your own gut instinct, but pleasseeeee do not believe what you read on there.

Honestly my opinion on any sort of internet ratings is that people will only seek out writing them if they have very good or very bad things to say. No one with an average opinion will be on those sites because they don't necessarily feel compelled to be on them. Just keep that in mind..

Also there was an incident at my school where a chapter president of a house which will go unnamed yelled at the entire chapter to write reviews on Greek Rank to improve their image so good reviews can be just as skewed as bad ones that have to do with isolated incidents about one person that is now taken to be representative of an entire chapter.

Noooooo those are horrible and 9 times out of 10 written by catty girls trying to put down other chapters or talk up their own.

It took me until about my junior year to stop caring about what people said about my sorority. Now we crack jokes about our own "nicknames" on campus and laugh about how ridiculous they are. We know that people who post things like that have any idea what true sisterhood is about, and my friendships with these girls are stronger than any words you can throw our way.

Just know it's nothing but jealousy. =)

With the whole Greekrank thing...anything anonymous opens the door for a lot of bad. People who are very anti Greek can tear you up. I wouldn't put any weight into anything on there.

Just remember the stereotypes of each sorority are generally nationwide. For example, DZ is called EZ DZ everywhere. Does that mean it's true, no...it just rhymes. Same thing with Tri Sigma or Tri Delta...always becomes Try Delta, Sigma....everyone else has. Just laugh it off

There's more from my school that I've heard but I don't feel comfortable posting about the other houses... not my place.
