You're Probably right about any significant competition. CEA traditionally takes teams to BATB. Wonder if they'll bypass that for CL. I'm trying to remember if any of the other East Coast CL gyms participate. I'm thinking no. Wonder if the fees from the All-Levels and J5 participants are funding the CL teams?

Rumor has it we will be at BATB.......

Lightning = fierce electric stuff in the sky (sounds like a team name)
Lightening = making something less heavy or less dark (probably not a team name...)

(Sorry to go all grammar police, and I know it doesn't matter to a lot of people, but I am a firm believer that if you have a website promoting your business (or your event as the case may be) you should spell things right. )

I really like this idea, but best makeup? Anyways I think it will be fun to vote for your favorites :)
Hopefully best makeup and best uniform is just a joke. How can we expect to be taken seriously as a sport when we give awards like this out? I wish I could say that comps don't do this, but I was at a major one in the spring that did give a "best uniform" award. I have NEVER seen a best uniform in football/baseball/volleyball, etc. Before others can take us seriously, we need to take ourselves seriously.:)

Website updated. Looks like some new information, and it turned into to a two day competition for all level, and a JR% Battle?

I think these invitational Comps, need to have an actual comp in order to fund the level 5 battles. I haven't paid too much atten, so I don't know if this applies to this CL event, but with The revolution is giving away 20k to the top 2 teams, and have the level 5 teams go for free, the $ has to come frm somewhere, so if you have a 2 day comp following the battles, you get the levels 1-4 compete to make enough $ to cover the cost of the level 5 battles.

I'm not totally sure though because these comps are a product of a group of gym owners getting together to come up with something that will help the cheer industry and if they are involved with putting on the comps, I don't think they would also give themselves the prize $ made from the lower level teams that may include their own. Right?

I probably shouldn't think out loud

No you're right. Cheerleading does not have a large enough group of non-participating or involved spectators willing to fly around to a lot of competitions. Worlds, NCA, CHEERSPORT, and the Majors already have a very large group of fans already attending events to watch the upper level teams. The Majors wouldn't be nearly as successful if it wasn't the same weekend as Jamfest. There is a large potential audience on the internet willing to pay 15-30 for a good event to watch and socially discuss though. But creating that atmosphere they want is gonna take already there fans.

Breaking it down a 120 team event isn't a very large competition. Maybe 1 or 2 teams per division? As well they are using a new and untried scoring system. For all it's flaws the Varsity one is the best option (least worst).

I don't think the environment of cheer can really support something like this to be very successful unless a few things change. I would define success as multiple events like this throughout the season instead of just one.
