Standardized sizes would increase competition. Long term it makes the most sense for the sport. (notice I said sport NOT industry)
Agreed. Sport needs to be well tuned before industry can grow anyways.

These divisions don't need to be huge if you give less bids. Then competition would really be the best of the best.

Same would go for a gym. They could have as many teams as they want but Team A may be the premiere teams that travels to certain competitions, while Team B in the division may still travel and be competitive but just not as much. The kids on Team B have an incentive to work harder and get on Team A. This happens in many other sports.

If there are set team sizes there are set 'positions' as well. So your top 6 flyers are on the A team, and next 6 flyers are on the B team. Most other sports have B teams, 2nd strings, 6th man, backup players. A team should have the harder routine, but, B team (if the kids were correctly picked for the right level) would have a good chance at beating team A.

Think about youth travel soccer. They have 11 x 11, 8 x 8, different tiers of that and at the end of the day some programs are lucky enough to have a team in each tier and each category. So for a U12, usually it is divided into A team, B team, etc.

I feel like 24 members would be a good size for a team, although I always have felt that 28 would be more ideal. I know it's only a 4 person difference, but with 24, you can only have 6 full groups and for some reason, I feel like 6 is an awkward number when it comes to how many groups you have.

I don't understand the hate on 36. I like it, and it looks good.

I feel like 30 is an awkward number.
Its not so much hate as it is lack of competition. I love 36, but it is incredibly difficult to field a competitive team at that size. Large senior is a battle to the end, but you really only get the full experience at 1, MAYBE two competitions. I'm curious to parents/coaches of lower levels- have you noticed more teams in large divisions now that their number is 32?

I think the difference would be marginal. I had said 30 originally to see a difference and now the longer I think about it the more I believe talking through @Andre 24 is where we will all end up. By 2020 I think it will just be one standard size.

We usually have quite a number of teams in large jr 3 and large sr 4. It of course depends on the comp itself but on average at least 5-6 teams per division if not more.

I actually really love this. But at the same time, I already have anxiety about all my favorite worlds teams being in the same division.

my guess is that every big gym would be against this, because they would end up with teams in the same gym competing against each other.

If you have 50 Senior 2 athletes its nice to be able to make a large and a small vs only being able to take 24 and then moving the other 26 down or up which would then create problems trying to make that team.

768 (I think) is the largest a gym could be without overlapping teams and that is if you have a perfect distribution of your numbers vs the over 1700 that I think you can have now
