I'm hoping maybe someone here knows if I can do this because most of my friends seem clueless:

I'm currently on an unlimited data plan with Verizon. I want to upgrade my phone because my current phone overheats, freezes up, and the keyboard rarely works. The problem is, if I upgrade through my discounted upgrade, I lose my unlimited data plan and am forced over to the share everything plan. I think I can buy a phone full price through Verizon to keep my unlimited data, but I was also wondering if I buy a phone through a 3rd party (friend, eBay, Amazon, etc.), would I be able to activate AND keep my plan the same as it is now? Of course, if I go to the Verizon store, they're not much help as they just want to basically make me change my plan instead of telling me if I can just buy a new phone myself from somewhere else.
I'm pretty sure that as long as you are not using an upgrade (which you wouldn't be if you are just activating a replacement device) it does not alter your plan in any way. Call the online customer service; they will be able to give you a definitive answer and they can help you activate the new phone. They are much more knowledgeable than the sales people in the store and have the final word on your plan, services, etc. Be sure though to get the name of the person who you spoke to so that if there are any problems you can reference what they told you.

I have a question which may sound really really dumb, so forgive me on that part.

My dorm room at university of really hot all the time because of the sun. My window has a latch so it can only open so far and it stays open all the time. Basically, I need to get a fan but do fans only recycle the air already in the room? So will the air actually be cold? Will it actually make the whole room cooler?

That makes me sound so silly, but Im confused!!

You might want to look into buying a small single-unit air conditioner for the room. I think there are stand-up versions that you plug in. Then you can keep the window closed and cool down your what I assume is a smaller room. :)

Yep. I buy ebay phones all the time. You don't even have to tell verizon actually. Just pop your SIM out and put it in the new phone. If your old phone is too old there's a possibility you'll have a larger SIM card rather than the new, tiny ones. If that's the case then you just go to verizon and tell them you need to switch for a smaller one. They can help you transfer your stuff too. They're going to give you some song and dance about buying used phones and how they don't cover them. (I usually just tell them my sister gave me her phone instead so I don't have to hear the ebay speech). Just say you understand.

They may charge you like $15 for the sim. At&t gives them for free but they always tell me they're supposed to be $14.95. But we have 6 cell phones, house phone, tv, and internet from them so I guess they figure a free SIM card is nbd with our $700 a month bill!

The one thing to be careful of: make sure the phone you buy uses the same data. So like you can't buy an iphone if you have an android. Because then you'll have to change the type of data you have and that's when they make you sign a new plan.

My roommate is complaining about Yom Kippur and how she can't eat.. My other roommate and I continue to eat in front of her.. Horrible people, yes but we can't help we're hungry!

Also, I'm trying to figure out what the best thing to get for my phone is. Like, I want a battery pack extension thingy and my friend up in Michigan was trying to show it to me over FaceTime last night but his room was dark so I couldn't see (we both have Samsung Galaxy s3's). I saw one on Newegg that I think is the one he got.. And another friend suggested this one. Help?

Story of my life all sophomore semester. We got the evening sun everyday at the hottest part of the day.

As for the fans, I would pull cooler air into your room during the night and early morning but if the room gets too hot, start pulling the hot air out by switching your fan the other way. unfortunately, from my experience, the fans aren't gonna do too much cooling. You'll need an air conditioner for that but some schools don't allow them (like mine).

I would invest in some curtains or blinds. It will help keep the sunlight out and it will cool down the room some.

Does anyone have any good motivational studying tips? Especially for reading things you don't want to? I'm supposed to be reading The Crucible for my lit class right now, but I read it in high school and hated it so I'm REALLLY struggling to read it again. Reading my stats book is about twenty times more enjoyable than reading this :(
