I know Jason personally. He's an amazing coach and he and his wife have a great program. I think he's correct.

I've always said we should consider ourselves more in the extreme activity category. Much like snowboarding and other "extreme" hobbies used to be before it became an actual sport.

I read it as though he meant sideline cheer when he says it's not a sport. I agree

He specifically says "sideline cheer." I agree.

Of course cheerleading is a sport! I do kinda think sideline cheerleading isn't a sport and makes people think that's "cheerleading." I feel like allstar and high school cheerleaders are considered athletes

As someone who was a cheerleader in high school, my personal standpoint has always been that sideline cheering isn't a sport. But when it comes to competitive cheerleading? Definitely a sport.

I say competitive cheerleading is a sport but sideline cheer isn't unless you compete or stunt and not just sideline cheer

competitive cheer is ALWAYS a sport, just like football, hockey, soccer etc. sideline? nah

Allstar is a sport. If you do "sideline cheer" and you guys don't compete but you put in the hard work to do certain stunts and etc, then its a sport. I am a high school cheerleader and we put in about the same amount of work as allstar

Sorry to say but cheerleading is NOT a sport. Cheerleaders ARE some of the most talented athletes in the world but due to the structure of cheerleading it's not set up to be a sport. The introduction of the sport STUNT is structured to be considered a sport. i.e. 4 quarters, 2 halves, coin toss, substitution of players so on and so forth. I know this comment will undoubtedly get some negative reviews but it is purely from an objective approach from someone who has spent over 16 yrs involved with all levels of competitive cheerleading. Love cheerleading wholeheartedly, but the classification of what we do shouldn't diminish our views of what we do. Cheer proud!!

Competition is but sideline isn't. But I think the sideline experience is more fun
