We have a dad's team that performs at our showcase, just for fun. This is the 2nd year we've done it, and I need help coming up with an amusing cheer/chant. It can be about anything, and I don't care how long or short it is. We are the Crystal Lake Raiders (C-L-R), and our colors are silver, black and white. This is what we used last year, to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

We are the dads
And we are here
to keep the boys away
from our girls who like to cheer!

We'll stop you
We'll block you
We'll stand in your way
You may like our daughters, but we're here to stay!

Any help you can give me would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Jan

I love the idea of a dad's team/parent teams doing a show case. If we had enough gym space and time, i'll be totally for doing one for christmas party ;-)
Will there be a video of their performance?

jan jan the cheerleading man

Actually it's "jan jan the cheerleading [wo]man"...but you are not the first to call me that! ;-)

I do like last year's cheer, but we would like to change it. I think that's why I'm having such a hard time coming up with something - trying to top last years. I was thinking something along the lines of "I pay, she cheers" (like the t-shirts I see at competitions) or "she cheers, I pay"....lots of rhyming possibilities for either of those.

Here's a link to last year's performance.
(Unfortunately, the guy running the music cut it off a bit too early...it was supposed to end with "Opa Gangnam Style" while the dads presented the flowers to their daughters.)

I have to say, it exceeded my expectations! We just intended it to be fun, and funny, which it was...but it was more than that. It helped bring our families together. We are a rec program and rely 100% on volunteers. After being on the dads' team, one of of the guys stepped up to be an assistant coach. The other guys are much more involved and interested in what their kids are doing. And they are heavily recruiting for this year!

@cupieqt is great at this stuff. @ACEDAD too!

Great - will they see this because they are tagged? Or should I send them a message?

Thanks everybody!

I think the original cheer is awesome! Unless you really want a change I say don't fix what ain't broke lol.
Thanks @Mamarazzi ! I do love a good silly VO/cheer!
Hmmmmm....

"WE are the Raider dads but you won't see us breaking bad!
We're here to cheer for our girls cuz they're the best kids in the world!
They jump, they flip, and then we shout "my kids gonna knock you out!""

Lol. This is fun

We see alerts when we're tagged. But I gotta agree with @Cheeranswers the original is really, really good.

Question though: why wouldn't you make the team coed?

I really want a new cheer, but I see what you guys are saying...last year's cheer was good, wasn't it? :) So I'm compromising and this is what I came up with. I am more than open to any suggestions/tweaks!

We are the dads
We're back again this year
To keep the boys away
From our girls who like to cheer!

We'll stop you
We'll block you
You will be denied
'Cuz we're still here
and you can run but you can't hide!

I don't have a good answer to that, other than that the idea came to me when I was watching the "guy poms" at our high school's homecoming pep rally last year. Maybe next year we'll make it coed!

@cupieqt, thanks so much for your suggestion! I'll tuck it away for future use!

It's that time of year again, and I need to come up with some new inspiration. Any ideas for a new dads cheer? Even just one line, or a theme would be helpful!

Btw, here's last years routine.

Thanks!

How has this not gone viral??? I laughed AND teared up!!! This is awesome.

That was phenomenal! Way to go Dad’s. Not sure how you’re going to top it but best of luck with this year’s team.

This is SO awesome!! :) Our gym has just started a parents team and it is so much fun! I'm the youngest mom (at 27) and the oldest is in her 60s! We also have a couple of dad's including my husband and after a few weeks they're already hitting level 3 stunts - so proud :)

If anyone could think of a fun chant or voiceover for a parents team that would be amazing. Gym name is MCA Melbourne Cheer Academy, colours white green and black and we're still working on a team name. It has to be based on a bird so we've had suggestions like crows, owls and eagles but still deciding. We're hoping to perform a little routine at the Christmas family show offs.

M.C.A. would be fun to make a rhyme with (all day, hey hey, here to stay, gotta say, we don't play, etc). I like the name Ravens for a bird theme--it's found in Australia and goes with gym colors. How fun! Good luck!
