Thanks @SharkDad for all of the info. Mine is only a freshman right now but good to know about these other agencies. However, more than likely we will focus first on the right school first and then see if she could possibly cheer at it. Academic scholarships will be our goal first.

I agree I think it was all for the show.

Many of the cheer scholarships in traditional programs are actually academic scholarships the program works out for the kids.

There are a handful of programs that get money from the atheltic departments, but I don't think that's a norm. This is from my experience....I'd love to hear if anyone has different first hand knowledge.

I am fairly certain the "recruiting and scholarship opportunities" were story lines made up so The Cheer Leader Magazine could get their 15 minutes of fame on television. I don't think any of the other clinics they hosted had these opportunities geared towards the under 12 crowd. Yes, it is a snarky comment, but they pimped out the clinic so bad on Facebook that I lost all respect for them. 90% of the photos of the "clinic" were photos of the dramamamas. It isn't exactly the way I would hope an industry publication would portray our sport.

CP got her issue and did have fun going through the pictures and found several that she recognized. Unfortunately CP did not go but after seeing the episode wished she had.

I totally agree the numerous posts on facebook related to this show by TCLM really reduced my opinion of the magazine

Lets all keep in mind who owns that publication

The "Dallas" competition they attended was actually the Amazing championships, and it was actually held in Allen, TX....but by calling it Dallas I'm sure some people made an assumption it was actually NCA.

Seeing the other comps on the show that they attended and knowing that US Finals was the be all, end all for them, I don't think many assumed they were attending NCA when they spoke of Dallas.

I get that more focus on the kids. Believe me, I get that. The first year of something new is always the toughest to find where to correct etc. I think you will find that the end of last competitive season shows which begin airing Wed will give you a little sigh that slowly things are changing.

Just browsed through the last 3 episodes and unfortunately you couldn't be further from the truth. It is about an 80/20 split between the ludicrous parent drama and the kids actually practicing or performing. The parents are beyond pathetic - popping meds like candy, having a tantrum worse than most 2 year olds, group therapy.... It is really too bad for the kids, as not only have they been shoved aside so their parents can have the spotlight, but they also have to admit that these parents belong to them. Sad:(

I couldn't agree more with @quitthedrama ...actually this season was even sadder than the first go around. The last episode I was appalled at how the adults and coaches treated 2nd place (out of 10 teams) like it was last place. Great role models for those girls. There has never been any example of showing good sportsmanship - in either winning or losing. And to be honest I think the show is actually quite boring - so I would be curious how large is the audience watching the show. The last episode - could not wait for it to end.
