I posted this in the college cheer thread, but I figured I would post it here since the questions I asked on college cheer are also very much applicableto All Star Cheer too.

My understanding was that in All Star cheerleading, it has often been considered very unforgiving in terms of the demands on body size, particularly since I had thought that it used to be that for women in college cheer, they all wanted to be Large Coed Flyers and they especially want to do it on the UCA type squads where they have some of the biggest and strongest bases. And being an All Girl Flyer or a Small Coed Flyer is considered underachieving and that being a base if you are a girl on any kind of squad is considered a relatively unpleasant position in college cheer noone wants, at least relative to being a a Large Coed Flyer.

ANd also, that if you are a particularly big and powerful girl who is better suited for All Girl or Small Coed type Cheer, that is considered a drawback because that means your squad will be ignored and it will cause resentment among girls who don't fit the 90 pound, Coed Flyer mold.

Is this still a serious problem now or is it evolving to where girls of all body types and sizes are being celebrated for their skills instead of just the 90 pound Coed Flyer types? Was it always a problem in all top cheer colleges or only true for some of them?

And also, in AlL Star Cheerleading, I have heard there are more cheerleaders able to do some scarily impressive stunts like shown here: Google Image Result for http://www.jtsstrength.com.php53-2.ord1-1.websitetestlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/481951_4299257214198_1093198662_n.jpg

Are there now more and more girls in All Star Cheer who can do stunts like these or are they still very much outliers? I would think that their routines could become even more visually impressive if more and more of their members could do stunts like this. Stunting could become a completely different animal from what it once was. I mean, for awhile people thought large men like you'd see on a football team could do stunts liek these.

I'm an all star cheerleader who has never even flown before. I've always been a base because I have a more muscular build. I've never really heard any negative comments about female bases, but if somehow all female cheerleaders have to be 4'10" and 100lbs, then I guess most of my team is out. Most of us are either taller or a bit heavier. :p

I think there is a shift in all star cheerleading. When I did cheer 12 +years ago you would never see that type of stunts nor would any girl over 5feet fly. I'm happy and welcome the changes
