This is a bittersweet post.... CP has been made the alternate for Stars. While it was initially a crushing disappointment for her, she was moved to the Sr medium coed team....and she LOVES it. The kids, coaching and vibe is a much better fit. I hadn’t seen her smile in the 4 months...

Tryout paperwork asked that people go to the worlds tryouts if they aren’t advancing to the next round of stars tryouts, but I’ve heard they are asked what their worlds team preference is. This process is no joke. You really have to bring your A-game and then some.

From what I’ve heard, athletes are asked what their worlds team preference is when they are cut. Hopefully, we don’t find that out first hand.

So far every day has been different. Some have been in the main gym, which has a glassed in parent area (which has been open during tryouts!) and others in one of the smaller gyms with no viewing area.

I’m not exactly sure ....based on what CP said, it was around 60. I’ve been trying to keep out of the gym and let her do her thing without me hovering. I’d love to be in there with my face pressed up against the glass....fighting the urge.

The tryout process is still going on.....she made it through the first three cuts. Next tryout is Monday, it may be the last round, then again it may not. My CP is pretty chill about all of this, I’m totally freaking out.... It’s fine. I’m fine.

Not from within the gym, you have to be invited to the tryouts. Edited to add....anyone from outside os welcome to try out.

Thank you! I think 19 were invited this year, all returning Stars do go through the tryout process and open tryouts for outside people were held yesterday. Hard to say exactly how many will ultimately be at the first round when all of those groups come together. I’ll know more on Sunday!

You're talking to a broke a$$ cheer mom. So when the gym is thoughtful to the parents pocketbooks I'm totally on board. Wanna buy a lottery fundraiser??? ;)

Honestly, the team wasn't chasing bids at all last season. We were already scheduled to compete at UCA, so Summit was a big expense (from NJ) for the parents....even if a paid bid was on the table.
