Sure, having a prom is fine and all, just saying it takes away from this competition being taken seriously and cheer as a whole as a sport especially to outsiders. Opening ceremony's for the Olympics and opening prom complete with court for who are the top of the cheerworld is no comparison...
I didn't get the whole prom thing, especially if people want cheerleading to be considered a sport? How many sports have proms? This makes cheerleading look more like a dance or show type of exhibition and nothing serious. Just my opinion of course, I'm sure it was fun, but I say lets get...

We pay so much for our cheer uniforms, ours was over $300. With the season over and new uniforms this year, what do you do? Hang in the closet for memories? Can't recycle them at the gym. I'd like to sell it somehow.
Like my daughter reminded me, we aren't the ones who actually have to do a standing tuck, full, or back hand spring, they are! Best bet is to support them, get them to the gym as much as possible and what I do also is when they get the skill, get them somekind of reward :)
How is this a mean spirited thead? Everyone wants cheerleading to be a sport, right? All sports have competitors. I love cheerleaders and cheerleading!
Plus it's not fair to the kids who have to actually earn the title, some large competitions have 7 or more teams competing against each other, especially in the lower divisions. What are we teachiing the kids by having them just show up and being handed a first place title?
