We score appearance, but not based on body type. It is basically, is hair up and out of the face, does their tryout outfit fit properly, do they have appropriate game day makeup ect.
We have white powerfit unis with black and gold accents. We have never had a problem with fading. We wear black bloomers under them, and they do not show through. If you fit them right they can look good one everyone. they just need to fit a tiny bit looser than a colored uni. My daughter is not...
I find that most coaches don't want the wrap on the floor. My CP's all star coaches wouldn't teach it with a wrap because its very difficult to get girls away from it, and its a way to compensate for not having the core strength to pull adequately.
You should be arching. You should be setting, and honestly, you shouldn't be learning it from a roundoff or learning it wrapped. If you have to wrap it to land it, you shouldn't be doing it on the floor, and doing it out of the roundoff forces the set, so it doesn't require you to learn a proper...
OMG, that is great news. Our fight song is a popular one and I have a good recording. We may just find a good stands tunes. i was told differently by my regional rep. She said we had to own the rights to anything we played and have documentation.
Thanks for the help! This will be the first time in the 13 years I have been at this school that the cheerleaders have been to competition. We are trying to build a program that can be competitive. We have a tumbling requirement for Varsity and as a result we have a very small Varsity team, and...
Anyone have experience with this? Our state is doing regionals for the first time and our regional is in our hometown. Considering taking my squad for the game day competition. We are ground bound, but so is the rest of our county so we should have some competition.
This is the first year we have placed by skill and not by age. There was some blowback about it, but I think ultimately it is for the good of the program. We instituted minimum skill requirements for varsity, and are heading that way for JV.

Yes, my point is just the threat of a lawsuit tends to make admins cave. If I can prevent that, I am going to.
My whole point wasn’t to convince anyone I am right, just that Those of us who choose to use outside judges have valid reasons for doing so and are not not stupid, unethical, lazy, or...
Yes but they declare a world champ on bars every year, and only ONE all around champ. there aren't separate all around divisions. By your argument we would need ONE TEAM to be declared the best in the world. I look at all of the world globe winners as divisional winners.
In my state you absolutely CAN personally be sued for any "pain and suffering" Susie endured from being unjustly cut. Happened to a fellow teacher (not over cheer but a classroom incident), and the legal fees were tens of thousands.
No one is saying put everyone on a squad, far from it. I am...
No one ever said it was complete protection. NOTHING is, but having judges who have no relationship to the candidates judging goes a LONG way towards discrediting claims of bias and helps tryout results stand up to scrutiny when a parent is unhappy, and just because a parent has never...
Like it or not, judges provide legal protection to the school and the coaches. It's not just the administration we have to worry about. Susie's mom can and often will sue or threaten to sue because she thinks Susie was targeted or discriminated against. It's easier for the administration to...
Using phrases like "shady coaches" to describe those to choose outside judges, saying they don't have tho guts to stand behind their decisions, and saying that you have never judged a tryout where coaches weren't doing something shady IS in fact attacking the ethics of anyone who uses outside...
Here's my take:
1. There isn't a good one, they are being set up to fail.
2. Yes
3. If a small gym wants to run with the big boys, they should have that choice, but they shouldn't be forced to.
4. They have access to the resources and coaching staff of the larger organization as a whole. Most...
