You could look at schools that offer stunt instead of just cheer. They get more scholaship money. Quinnipiac, Baylor, Oregon etc. Still not a full ride but some give enough to cover tuition (not room & board).
After a rough year being an "alternate" on a R5 for most of last season, CP is thrilled to be headed to a new gym and on an appropriate Sr 4 team. First practice is Monday night, yikes!
The grade check is the final say until the next grade check, I think is it every 3 weeks and I think there is a "7 day grace period". There are a lot of rules (and loopholes) ie. if you were passing the last 9 weeks but failing this 9 weeks you are still eligible. It's not a issue that we have...
It's Texas so not a "sport" just yet. But the school districts does specifically state that it follows ALL UIL rules for any sport or fine arts EC. No alternates to bring in, just poor planning on the coaches part IMO. There is always a cheerleader or two that doesn't make grades.
Hmmmm here is a different perspective. School district/state has a minimum grade policy for athletes to be eligible play/compete. (Missing assignments lowers grade)
HS cheer coach can choose as many or as few cheerleaders as she wants to be on the team. HS cheer coach chooses 12, because she...
So I am going to stir the pot a bit here...
I do not know the Butlers. My CP attended one of Gabi's tumble clinics last year, thought it was a fine day tumbling did not "learn" much more than she already knew but had a good time tumbling with her friends. So kudos to the Butler family for...
Don't quit team before the season is over...it's poor sportsmanship, not to mention rude. But by all means find a more suitable situation for yourself next season.
Believe me I understand. CP's team had 12 kids, one was injured in January. we worked the rest of the season with 11 kids, it wasn't a very successful season for us. Could we have pulled someone down from our R5 team, sure but it wasn't right, so we didn't. I am old school too, You do with...
Lol you are right every gym works differently. Both your argument and mine are probably oversimplifications of the actual situation. Because clearly a small gym can be successful without crossovers and clearly some small gym feel the need to rely on crossovers. Guess I was getting riled up by...
CP is at a gym that is in the "SMALL Gym Category" and does not nor has it ever used cross overs.. Teams are built based on the majority of skills by the highest skill level and then 1 or 2 maybe 3 lower skilled athletes are on the team. Gym is competitive at most of its levels granted not all...
Nobody is talking about 1 or 2 crossovers because of injury or quitting.
And that is bull plan and simple that gyms can't survive without crossovers...
Also you are basically saying "Hey it's ok to do whatever it takes to win, even if it is wrong...as long as there is no rule against it you...
Don't get me wrong I think the EPs need to do something about it too as well as the industry as a whole. Still not sure why cheer don't have player cards like they do in soccer. Photo ID that is checked against the roster at the start of the competition by the judges/EP. Jeeze it is not that...
So I am reading on another thread about a CP crossing/competing on two teams at Summit (I think it was a R5 to 4 ) and it made me think...here we are blaming EPs for allowing and gyms for using crossovers and sandbagging but we as parents can solve this problem, just don't let your CP do...
How is this different than the Florida Dad that pushed his kids over the brink for the half pipe at the skate board park? The world was really upset about that...but this is CUTE. Its messed up.
Agree that I don't think it is Disney that is the problem it is USASF and the bid system. There needs to be fewer bids. Period.
Also think Las Vegas is an excellent option.
Eons. My CP has been at th going on 10 years and I remember cp 's mini 1 team losing to them at NCA in that (or nearly identical ) uniform 2 years running back in 2007 or 2008. Running joke at our house ...if you see that uni you might as well pack it in.
