I'm super late to this party but when I was at sharks, 2 of my teammates drove from St. Cats with our coach for our 2 weekday practices! Apparently it can be done lol. Sharks was a lot of fun though, I do miss it a lot.
@KPep you're not the only one in Québec! Kicks (I'm not sure what it was...
Not directed at this uniform in particular, but I cannot imagine ever paying $550 for a uniform. That's 55 hours of minimum wage work (where I'm from), almost my entire month's rent, or a trip for spring break! All for a small outfit I'll compete in!
I accept the high price of cheerleading...
I agree. That's the kind of comment you usually hear from a disappointed teammate, not a coach. If he knew Tyler wasn't going to make it, why did he place him on the Smoed anyways?
Also, it's hard to be successful on a team when your own coach "knows" you won't be... Doesn't do a lot for one's...
I saw your uni in the uniform thread and it looked great, but it looks AMAZING on the whole team on the floor! Well done whoever designed it!
And those are great action shots! :)
I think they probably cast her rather than staff because the final product/ad is aimed at a younger audience and would have been less relatable with someone old enough to be staff.
Plus the fact that her technique is good enough to look flawless in all of those mid-tumbling stills probably...
A pro is that there are fewer tumbling restrictions than level 5 (I think?!) so if yo have a really cool pass like a full punch double, you could still compete it!
I'd say a con is how difficult it is to teach/learn the baskets. It's hard to learn how to do a layout full basket if you've never...
I can't believe how strict some of these school districts are! Maybe it was just my school district, or just my high school, but I missed probably 20 days a year at least in tennis tournaments, ski races, and cheer competitions, some of which were with the school teams but also all-star. As long...
I get the idea of replacing running then static stretching at the start of practice with dynamic stretching, and maybe it's just my old body talking, but my heel stretch is going to be painful and painfully low if i don't hold my splits for a while before I pull it!
Ultimate Ears by Logitech!! The big headphones are still pretty expensive, but I got the earbuds that are around $90 (I think) for Christmas 2 years ago and I still haven't broken them, which is a huge record for me! My dad picked them out and he's weirdly obsessed with sound wires so I can...
I was there! Lol. Laurier's were beautiful IMO and Western's Coed second run one looked great on and off the floor. Wasn't a big fan of the huge mustang on their first run uni, specially on the guys' top, but overall it still looked good. Just curious, do you know if they were all made by Full Swag?
I like the white design, but with black instead of white, and plain material instead of mystique. If you used white as the design does now, I don't think there would be great consistency between the girl and guy uniform since the green:white ratio would be so much higher on the guys than girls...
I wasn't digging the stomach-mesh-and-fabric triangles on the similar black one but I think it works great here! I really like the skirt too, I'm curious what the back looks like though :)
I think a big issue with "though" coaching is what you're yelling about. I've had coaches yell at us to be sharper, ask us why we dropped a stunt and had to do it 10 more times, punish us with conditioning for messing up counts, and tell us we were practicing like a second place team. With those...
Who decides what's legal and what isn't for college cheer that isn't a competition? Just curious because I cheer at my university in Canada and we just do whatever is consistent and pretty (including full downs) :)
Perhaps not "desire to be a mega gym," but yes, assuming that growth is manageable and that they are interested in maximizing their profit (which I understand may not apply to all programs, but certainly to most).
Among all other things, a gym is still a business, so I don't expect many gyms...
The difference I see with all-star and college divisions though is that in college, your division is set by college size, where only a fraction of the population is cheerleaders vs. gym size, where everyone cheers. So yes, HPU is a D2 team that could be very competitive at the D1 level, but I...
How does that work?
I've always wondered how gyms that have you try out for a specific team place the athletes that didn't make that team, since aren't all other teams filling up with that method too? Is there a team at the end, made up of all the athletes who didn't make their first choice...
