This is one reason why we took a break this last season . DD wants to try so many things I thought it best to take a year off (maintain tumbling) . Even at that we still didn't get in all the other things she wants to try :( But I do try to make her narrow things down, yet if you don't try...
My daughter found out and decided not to go to the clinic she signed up for. The one issue I have is the driving bit, I assume someone was planning on driving stoned . In states where pot is legal is it legal to drive stoned ? To me this is no different then sitting in a car drinking alcohol...
I am not 100% sure of her age, really you can attend HS up until your 21 but I am sure she isn't 21. She was a senior in HS last year so she may have been 18yrs at the most? He is in his mid to late 20's. He just left his wife a month ago. But for those of you that think it's okay, their are...
What do you think of a gym that hires a coach that they knew had a affair last year (he was married, wife just has 1st child then) with a girl on the senior squad last year at another gym (where he use to coach)? Would you let your cp cheer their? It's a pretty well known gym that hired him...
This goes to back to my post about coaches being certified All-Star. What are the different things the certifications consist of (depending on whom you go through)? Sport injury's, how to spot them, when to make the phone call to the parents to come to the gym etc.? First Aid, CPR? Sports...
Rumor has it we are going to lose our coaches (and which ever teammates choose to become their followers) to CTR. I guess the glitter of TV got to them? The next couple of weeks may become real interesting for cp's gym (it may prove to be CTR's loss and our gain). Who needs Cheer Perfection...
To be a All-Star coach is it pretty much all on the job learning (I assume some have cheered in the past)? So really you don't need any type of training or certifications?
Cp could do up to a layout by the later age of 7yrs or early 8yrs (she'll be 9yrs at the end of summer). That was after one 1 and 1/2 years of cheer/tumbling. But in the last few months she has regressed and can barely do her backhand spring :( The coach really worked them hard this year...
Coach Kelli - You stated 1/2 year all star is rec, wouldn't that be prep? I take it the rules can vary depending on what system you are competing in? Also, how well do the comp. system check to see if you actually do sideline if that is required?
Has others have posted, the cost of spring boards. Schools rely on tax payers money, and when taxes get cut school funding gets cut. Their are always fundraisers. Plus the setting up, you really just need to have a gym where it can be put up and left up. Not unless the school can afford to...
I was talking to my dad during NCA comp. about how All-Star cheer doesn't have any true regulations are standards. I don't think it's considered a sport is it? But he went on to say he believes cheer is a sport for a college/school. He is a retired teacher so he may or may not know what he is...
All I can say/add is that I was a bit surprised to find out our youth team will be up against Cheer Athletics in NCA. Maybe I just miss read the schedule wrong. I consider us a step down from a small gym.
How small is small, gotta look down to see this one.
It's interesting your comparison to the school environment and the gym. Another parent (whom is a teacher) and I (Whom sub) brought this up with the same comparison. Our daughters are the same age/grade (different cheer skill levels), for her cp the drop till your dead practices, the coach...
I assume their is some type of code Adam the comps. have if a child goes missing? This happened a few months ago to me: after cp's performance we where waiting for the girls to come out. We weren't able to sit with the rest of the team and sat somewhere else, but we did come down for the...
My cp hair is so fine and thin, it's a pain to curl and the curls don't look cute. After 8yrs it just barely goes past her shoulders (very slow growing). I've never had her hair cut, just trimmed. Last year she wore a hair peace, it was required for all the girls. This year it's not, but...
Their to me is a diffrence between bribes, incentives, deals, rewards or treats. To me a bribe has something to do with getting someone to-do something dishonest. I give $ for good grades, it's more of a incentive I know some parents that wouldn't do this. But both my children are to young...
